    Some years it's just not in the cards, no matter what you do. I hate to think that the starting of Abe Alvarez on Thursday afternoon was the Red Sox waving the white flag.......especially when they're still in the Wild Card race. I don't blame Alvarez but don't comprehend why management would pull a pitcher out of Double A to start against a team that they've had trouble with all year.

    I'd get a 1B who can actually dig a ball out of the dirt. It would improve that whole infield. I still like Nick Johnson and am so sick of Kevin Millar on this team that I refuse to buy chicken from KFC.

    I think Francona will get at least two years before he is fired. Not saying I agree with it, just don't think he'll be fired until some of this free agent stuff gets resolved. One guy I've always been a fan of is Rick Burleson. He's a hard nosed guy, a former player and I don't see him being quite so coddling as Francona or Little. I love Jerry Remy but he isn't going anywhere except maybe to a bigger TV job. The guy is living his life as one of the most popular guys in Boston sports; why would he jeopardize all that? Mike Hargrove is a stiff and the game of baseball has passed Don Zimmer by. Zim is a great guy but he's 73 years old and wants to spend his money at the race track and talk about the good old days.

    That's old news. He met her a couple years ago; think she was a waitress at a place he went to eat. Now she's a multi millionaire.

    It was just a matter of time before Lowe gave way to the big inning Thursday night. He was escaping way too many jams.....you knew it couldn't last........and it didn't.

    Truth be told, I wish Nomar DID want to stay; I hear conflicting stories and don't even know what to believe anymore. As I said with Bruce Hurst, Roger Clemens, Mo Vaughn and anyone else you can think of, if a player doesn't WANT to be here, then he shouldn't be here. I hate players with a lousy attitude and believe that it affects their play. I do find it amusing when certain guys leave, have nothing good to say about the Sox and a couple of years later, they're whining about their new club saying things like, "I miss the Sox; I should have never left." Examples: Hurst, Vaughn and Shea Hillenbrand. I know Hillenbrand was traded but he bad mouthed Boston for over a year and now tells friends that he wished he could come back.

    Then Francona should have kept his mouth shut. According to Remy on WEEI Wednesday morning, Francona was ******** that Manny wasn't playing and didn't hide his feelings.

    Nobody can tell me that out of Lowe, Pedro, Varitek and Nomar that the Sox aren't going to sign at least one of those clowns.....I mean players. Actually, you can tell me that.......I just won't believe you.

    Yeah, that 1.53 ERA is just atrocious. Foulke himself has said that he generally has problems right around the All-Star break. Look at most of the games in the last three weeks or so; they've either been blowouts or extra inning games. Foulke doesn't need to be pitching two innings at a time but Francona should have definitely had him throw one inning in at least a couple of those games. When do we get to do a report card on Red Sox fans? When that happens, I give you an F.

    Actually, that's true as far as the Giant's fans go. They finished a woeful 4-12 last season and the fans make ridiculous posts about "bad breaks" and with a little luck the Giants could be a Super Bowl contender. Hell, they may not win 3 games in their division this coming season.

    While he is still here, I just want to see him out on the field hitting the s*** out of the ball. Don't trade him just for trading him sake. A few more 3 for 4 nights and a couple of nice defensive plays at short and all will be forgotten. I'm not driving myself nuts for the rest of the year. Whatever will be will be.
