He will never have one of those outings again, thats like... once in a career. He will also have his brilliant outings. He is a fairly decent pitcher, but will likely take his bumps vs. the Red Sox. Not only because we probably have one of the best offenses in the MLB, he has traditionally never pitched very well in Fenway (cant really judge two starts, but whatever) or against the Sox in general (3 starts). He is 1-2 with a 9.75 ERA, 20 Hits, 13 Earned Runs, 3 HRs, 2 Walks, 9 Ks, all in 12 innings pitched. Not many of the Red Sox hitters have faced him much, only one more than 10 times. Jay Payton is 7-13 off of him, with a homer. The only other batters who have faced him more than 6 times are Millar (2-9, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 2K), Mueller (1-7), Vazquez (2-7, 1 RBI, 1 K)and Renteria (4-7, 2 RBI). Its not really sufficent enough evidence to say he would get rocked or not. He has never really faced the meat of the Sox order much. Hes faced Ortiz and Manny once, and theyve gotten hits off of him both times. It could work to his advantage that a lot of the Sox hitters haven't seen him much over the last year, during his breakout season. But, I think that one good season doesn't always lead to more, so we will have to see how he does, knowing he will have to face 2 high powered offenses a bunch of times in ours, and the Orioles.
