  1. That was some game. I thought we were gonners about halfway through, but this team is really starting to turn things around. We get hits when we need them (see: Tek winning the game), and LOB is down to 9 now.
  2. Wasn't there already a thread on this? That being said, mine is Mo Vaughn, seeing as how I actually watched him play.
  3. Texas may be an equalizer out west (for now) and Baltimore may be one in the East all season, but the west will beat up on each other, and the central is too weak to send two teams to the playoffs. By the west beating up on each other, I mean Oakland, Anaheim, Texas, and Seattle (although they sure are off to a crappy start) will go back and forth in games, evenning out the records to some extent. The competition isnt as fierce out East, so I bet either the sox or the yankees will be the wildcard and the west will get shafted.
  4. I just heard the Yankees were refusing to partake in this, I dont remember where. It seems really low to me. Has the game been degraded so much that the bases aren't even safe any more (haha, play on words like with a stolen base, get it)? Whats next? Logos on hats? Players changing their names to "McDonals" and "Duracell"?
  5. I dont know. As you said grassinzimsteeth, its almost impossible to compare batters to pitchers in terms of values. You need to compare within a specific group. Heck, its hard to compare a secondbaseman to a leftfielder, let alone a pitcher to a left fielder. Anyway, with this impossible task looming over me , I chose Pedro simply because of what he means to the town (Manny was just bought, plain and simple, and even though Pedro was too, it seems like it is to a lesser extent). He can be the most dominant pitcher in baseball, and his outings often set the tone of an entire series. He gives us momentum, which really cant be quanitified, but its important nonetheless.
  6. Thats a great article RSR. I'm just too lazy to sign up for the projo online, but they have great Red Sox articles I hear.
  7. NO! Don't give up on them so soon! If you can't watch this you arent true Red Sox fans! How did you ever live through game 7 last year? Plus, all is not bad. Lowe just struck out the first batter of the second inning.
  8. I just heard on the radio right now that he's much improved. I'm glad to hear this. It's scary when anyone gets a heart attack. His family expresses their gratitude to all sox fans. I'm just passing on the message.
  9. Who cares what the newspaper says? It's long been one of Boston sports' downsides. Anything and everything gets negative coverage, and thats the main reason some players hate playing here. Whoa, Dauber just narrowly avoided that pitch, Anyway, I dont care what Shaughnessy says in the paper tomorrow. I care what I think, and I think that this team blows right now. I'm pissed at them, I dont need to see a writer get pissed to know what I feel.
  10. That would be alright, I guess. But it would feel to me like we were wasting all of our alloted runs for a month in one game. That wouldn't be good.
  11. Its probably accepted that fastball movement is key. You can pretty much see it by reading this article: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1786041
  12. We better win, Lowe owns cleveland: G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 24 3 4 1 8 1 0 53.2 39 17 14 4 12 31 2.35 0.95 .201 Davis against Boston, on the other hand, not so great: G GS W L SV CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB K ERA WHIP BAA 1 1 1 0 0 0 0 7.2 6 4 4 0 0 4 4.70 0.78 .207 We've scored a lot of runs off of him in the past, so I hope itll continue. Sorry the stats are a little off, but I have yet to find a good way to post them.
  13. I dunno, I kind of like the aluminum bats in college. It makes for a different game than the MLB. Its almost faster paced, more runs scored, bigger offenses, lesser defenses. Its what baseball is kind of turning into nowadays. I certainly don't hate wood, and I'm completely against metal in the bigs, but for lesser levels, I guess it's alright.
  14. 4 days until the release date. Does anyone plan on seeing it on the 7th? I'll most likely end up seeing it whenever I get a chance. Is it playing all over or just at specific theaters?
  15. Damn, a 1-2-3 inning. Our bats need to snap out of it! And its damn cold in cleveland!
  16. hmmmmm, 4-1, bases juiced, up steps Crespo...... damn. Pinch hit for him, come on! He's an automatic out!
  17. Yup. I don't know much about basketball, but I know he screwed the team and the fans over. Kinda like Dan Duquette, except not as bad.
  18. 6 in a row for them. I think everyone's back on the yankee wagon. Damn, I was hoping it would last.
  19. Does this team have the potential to be the best Red Sox team yet? Yes, it does. Will it be? Most likely not. Its so hard to be the best ever. You can be great, and I have no doubt that this team will be, but not the best. We have the right elements, hitting pitching and fielding (to an extent at least), and they sure are a joy to watch. I'd say yes if you asked if they were the best team in baseball this year.
  20. What was up with Pedro? Was it the recent contract blow up, or was he just having an off night? I dont understand. He can be so dominant, but then he can be so.... sucky.
  21. I hate Crespo. He's the most automatic out I've ever seen. But thats offtopic I guess. I cant complain if the Bellhorn and Reese infield stays intact a little longer. They turn a mean double play (especially pokey). It's not like the sox are struggling for lack of offense, but if they were, I'd probably be less happy about Pokey playing. But since we dont need runs desperately, I'll take the defense.
