  1. David Wells versus Luke Hudson. Discuss. I don't have any fancy pictures or fancy previews or any of that garbage. You should've watched the pregame show on NESN if you wanted that.
  2. As has been said numerous times before, Mueller at 2B isn't a long-term option. And by long-term, I mean more than one game. Bill's knees would be shot and we don't need that. The only realistic way that we can optimize our lineup is to get Millar out of there and plug in Youk. That's the only way we get better from within and the trade market is just too expensive right now.
  3. Looks like we were all watching the game instead of posting. Matt Clement proves once again that he is our ace thus far.
  4. Interesting names (not necessarily for Sox but for everyone): B.J. Ryan, Paul Konerko, Rafael Furcal, A.J. Burnett, Nomar Garciaparra and Billy Wagner. The first website needs to be update. Carpenter is no longer on the market and some of those guys have been traded to new teams, released, etc.
  5. http://kmbumb.people.wm.edu/roster/06agency.html http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/ These websites are awesome.
  6. That could work. I'd still rather take Wright though, move Youk to 1st and ship Mueller and Millar out.
  7. It's pretty apparent that those days are in Mueller's past and I think everyone around the league knows that. He's a nice hitter and his OBP is around .390, but it has been inflated by Fenway and we really need to get Youk in the lineup everyday. He's torching the ball. As far as Politte goes, he's been pitching excellently this year and it was just a name. We could look to the Padres for Scott Linebrink while Loretta is hurt and Burroughs sucks or we could look a bunch of ways. If anything, it'd likely end up being a one-for-one with some money going in one direction or the other.
  8. I agree with The Mr. Good ( ). Sean Casey has been discussed as an option, but I'd prefer we didn't do that.
  9. I wouldn't mind if they moved Manny on. That would free up a lot of money. As great as he is and as much as he's done for us in providing a championship, that's just way too much money. I still don't know who could possibly take it on (maybe the Mets?), but it would be intriguing. By the way, if the Mets would consider Manny, I would love to take David Wright off their hands. That kid is one of my favorite players.
  10. Kevin Millar is hitting .248/.297/.299 without a homer on the road this season. There should be no doubt in anyone's mind that we need to get this guy off of the field.
  11. I am very excited to see what Theo is going to pull off.
  12. OK, here's my updated thoughts on the playoffs, just for shits and giggles at the 1/3 marker: AL East- Baltimore AL Central- Minnesotta AL West- Texas (with Chris Young, not Kenny Rogers, as their best pitcher) AL Wild Card- White Sox (not Red Sox) NL East- Nationals (great bullpen) NL Central- Cardinals NL West- Padres NL Wild Card- Phillies Twins over Rangers White Sox over O's Cardinals over Phillies Padres over Nationals Twins over White Sox Padres over Cardinals Twins over Padres in 7
  13. No one's asking for a young relief pitcher. Hell, as soon as Craig Hansen signs, we've got one with dynamite stuff. I'm merely looking to swap Mueller for someone like Cliff Politte because Joe Crede sucks and the White Sox need a 3B. I was thinking along those lines. Not trade Mueller for Chad Cordero or something ridiculous like that. Why are we going to mortgage the farm for a reliever? Youk, Shopp and Hanley is the kind of trade package you offer for a franchise hitter or pitcher.
  14. Actually, instead of trading Youk, I would love to trade Mueller. We could do the classic "old reliever in the last year of a contract for the old hitter in the last year of a contract" swap. There's gotta be a billion options out there like that which allows us to keep Youk are our 3B of the future, which he really is. By the way, I'm all for trading Shopp and Hanley in the right deal.

  16. VORP told you how good he was that season. It was not an indicator, nor predictor, of future success, unforseen mechanical failures, his brain not functioning, etc.
  17. You guys are pervs... Of course I saw it, but you don't point it out in front of the lady. You just drool over it while she's not looking. You have to be tactful.
  18. Yep, he's getting his innings in for Pawtucket like a good boy. Goddamnit, we need that scrawny little Italian.
  19. Yeszir, you jinxed my jinx! If you point out the jinx, you jinx the jinx!
  20. Copy and paste all the stuff inside the thing and you'll see it.
  21. I was thinking more along the lines of smoking hot than annoying, but to each his or her own, I guess.
  22. I have a horrendous feeling about this game. I love Wade Millar more than most Sox fans, but I just feel like he's going to get crushed. Also, Carlos Zambrano is one of my favorite pitchers and one of the best in the National League. I think he goes double-digit K's today.
  23. I'd almost feel bad for Embree if he didn't suck so much ass. His ERA is 15.26 since May 24th. Ouch. We want Lenny! CLAP CLAP CLAP-CLAP-CLAP!
  24. You and everyone else. Rickie Weeks was ready so they dumped the guy blocking him.
  25. 1. Chip Ambres likely isn't anything more than a nice #4 outfielder in the Jay Payton mold. 2. He's a .258/.352/.448 career minor league hitter, which makes this year look like an abberation. 3. He's already 25 and barely qualifies for prospect status. 4. If the Florida Marlins gave up on him after last season, then he can't really be that good. 5. Your boy whiffs a buttload. 25% of his AB's (43 out of 172) AB's this season he's whiffed. I could definitely see Chip filling in the Jay Payton role in 2006, but he'd be a below average regular that has difficulty making contract, especially versus RHP's, just like Jay Payton. http://www.soxprospects.com/players/ambres-chip.htm http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Chip%20Ambres&pos=OF&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&did=milb&pid=407876 By the way, here's a great website for MLB contracts: http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/
