  1. Nobody else to play third base if they pinch hit Sexson. Rodriguez was the DH.
  2. The Pirates haven't had a winning season in like 45 years. The Pirates have s***** management. Why is this still a discussion?
  3. It should just be a conditional pick. 3rd to start. 2nd if he makes the Pro Bowl. 1st if they win the Super Bowl. Is that not fair?
  4. I know Namath isn't the greatest quarterback ever, but he was the face of the franchise, and brought some bravado to the Jets that we haven't seen. Favre could do that. We'll see what happens.
  5. I'm sure they'll give him a shot in left for a while. At worst he'll give Damon time to get healthier to play the outfield a month from now. Damon Jeter Abreu Rodriguez Giambi Nady Cano Cabrera Molina I like the way it looks. Not to mention what Marte gives them in the bullpen.
  6. Is he as bad as Abreu? I see him slotting in each corner outfield slot and DHing every once and a while.
  7. 10-12 inches inside is an exaggeration. Lowell had to jump out of the way because every pitch during the at bat was away. He was leaning outside to foul pitches off, and was surprised at how close it was to the inside part of the plate. It was a cut fastball which started at Lowell, and moved back towards the plate. The pitches to Drew were strikes.
  8. Good move. Tabata was starting to seem like a headcase. He could still turn his career around, but it's not as big a loss as it would have been a year ago. Nady fills a hole in the lineup and in the field, and Marte is the lefty reliever we didn't have. Really good move by Cash.
  9. Jets got permission to speak with Favre about bringing him in. I am ridiculously excited about this opportunity for the Jets. I like Clemens, but I think he's a year away from really being ready, and a year under Favre would be good for him. The Jets have not had a real marquee quarterback since Namath, and the idea that he could be on the team next year is really exciting. Please Tanny, get this done.
  10. They removed this policy the other day. http://gothamist.com/2008/07/23/sunscreen_now_allowed_in_yankee_sta.php Amazing what some bad publicity will do for an organization.
  11. I think a move for Bay would be the best fit. I think Kennedy's days in NY are numbered. Something will build around Kennedy, as there really isn't a fit for him anymore. As for Posada, I think he'd be a good bat off the bench or DH down the stretch, but I'd rather he had the surgery. I think he's putting it off in conjunction with the trade deadline, to help the Yankees bargaining position.
  12. He's taken miles off his breaking pitches, and it's kept hitters off balance. Last year he threw everything in the same range of 80-86 MPH. He's slowed his breaking and offspeed stuff to 68-75 MPH, making his pitches more effective. His location has been good, he's been healthy, and he's kept hitters guessing. Not really rocket science, he's put it all together.
  13. Girardi's kept everyone in the bullpen fresh and effective, without overusing arms out there. I don't think you can point to one guy in that bullpen that has pitched more than he should have, and that was a problem under Torre. He'd fall in love with 'his guys' and they'd lose their effectiveness, while other guys in the bullpen would rust. Edwar Ramirez is an example. He pitched July 3rd and July 6th in 2007, and then not again until July 20th. He got lit up in his 3rd appearance, and then didn't pitch again for another month. Stuff like that hasn't happened under Girardi, and that has been a factor in getting the most out of players.
  14. Take a look at the Yankees bullpen numbers right now.
  15. Fine by me. Taylor is out of the AFC East. Should make Week 1 a little easier to deal with for the Jets.
  16. I know, I'm the first guy to refer to the games after the All Star Break as the second half.
  17. It was only a matter of time before we got back into striking distance. The offense isn't even clicking yet. It'll be a good second half.
  18. I don't see why Papelbon thinks he should have been greeted any differently. He acted like a moron, thought he should have closed the game over Rivera and said so publicly, and then went into Yankee Stadium and thought he wasn't going to get s***? And don't give me this "Yankee fans are classless" ********. We'll see how classy Sox fans are to A-Rod when he goes up to Fenway next week. I'm sure they won't mention his pending divorce once. Papelbon got booed. It's a f***ing rivalry. Deal with it.
