  1. Heh, I was just listening to WEEI, and some guy who called in was like "I guess Francona didn't make it clear that Jones is supposed to throw over the plate." I think of Embree and Timmy had pitched 2 innings each, we would have been fine pitching-wise. As for the lack of offense...I guess just a failure to capitalize.
  2. Well, Halladay was rocked for 6 runs in 6 1/3 innings in his first start, so you don't really know how either will pitch. It should be a good showdown though, IMO. Hopefully the bats will be in the clubhouse for Pedro tomorrow. We shouldn't trade Pedro, regardless of his "bitching." If we show him that he is important, and if he plays well, there is no reason he shouldn't finish his career here.
  3. That was SO deflating. He walks the bases loaded, then walks in the winning run...f***ing jackass.
  4. I'm saying that Bonds and Pujols are very similar. Pujols is better overall, but not significantly.
  5. No problem...you should do full writeups as well.
  6. I have some cards (not many) from 95-99, a signed Casey Fossum pic, and a Lou Merloni ball w/ El Tiante + Eric Hinskey autographs. Other than that, I don't really have much Sox paraphanilia.
  7. Didn't see it, but heard it on the radio...scared me a bit, reminding me of the Damon-Jackson collision in the playoffs.
  8. It was initially gonna be for Nixon (maybe some prospects as well) but with his back injury, it's a no-go. Not saying that I dislike the Big Unit, but we need Nixon more than we need him. Our 4 and 5 starters could be 2 or 3 on most other teams.
  9. Welcome Ben. You should make a shirt of your name.
  10. Most helpful indeed...now you just need to get results there somehow.
  11. Yeah, I agree. We really have no weaknesses. Our offense is just as potent (and Kaplar + McCarty will have improved, Ortiz will have a better overall year), our defense was upgraded, our starting rotation is Ill (capitol I), and our relief is greatly improved. Only thing I'd like to see is Francona running Kaplar/Damon and even maybe Nomar. Good game, makes me happy. :-D
  12. 6 of 1, half dozen of another...I'd rather have Pujols as well, but I got him 3rd pick so I'm not complaining.
  13. He'll be #1 in three years, barring any injuries. And he's on my fantasy team.
  14. 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 K - that's a strong outing if you ask me. Embree pitched a 1-2-3 7th, now Timmy's having a little trouble in the 8th. Hopefully he'll cool down.
  15. I agree completely... About his breaking ball - did you see Ponson's? His wasn't too great either. It wasn't Pedro breaking down, he just didn't warm up to it.
  16. Skill wise I agree with Dave...but if you factor payroll and chemistry, it's a tougher decision.
  17. LOL @ Benny9Sox7 Timmy'll do fine, don't worry. And remember last year, Petey got tagged for 10 runs, and still led the league in ERA.

    Hi

Don't worry...after being innundated with Red Sox propaganda, you will become a die-hard Red Sox fan!
  19. Pedro's cooled down, so thats good. Goddamn wind - Ortiz would have had a home run. Ah, Millar flies out, #10 LOB!
  20. I say 100 wins, hands down. Folke should get 40+ saves, and Tim/Embree/Williamson will get +/- 10 wins in non-save situations.
  21. I'd say 13-7 is really the most you can ask out of a #5 starter...15 wins is even a stretch for Wake. BK should pitch a lot better this year though, as soon as he gets healthy (which won't be long). Arroyo would be good as a long reliever for those tough outings for the SP. He still hasn't pitched much, so hopefully he'll develop well this year.
  22. They'll go far. I went to a game last week (5-4 win over TB, great game) and even down 3-0 they didn't stop fighting. They have no weaknesses, and play as fierce as any other team.

Someone tried selling Randy Johnson's saliva on eBay once... It's interesting how he said that the Pats were unwilling to negotiate. When he asked for a 7 year deal (he is 30, no one in their right minds would do that) we offered 4. Then he asked for 5 or 6, and we said no. That's negotiating. Just because he asked something unreasonable, and we didn't give it to him doesn't mean we're liars.
