I was looking into it this evening and saw an article quoting Alex Cora saying he thinks Story will make it back before the end of the season. What is the general consensus elsewhere? Is this a legit thing that might happen? Last I heard, the injury was season-ending and that was that. https://www.justbaseball.com/mlb/trevor-story-kris-bryant-comeback-comparison/

I was advised on your system (dig the name "MOJO") and it's something we used on the Cubs site for some time (and will probably restart it next season). I'm totally fine with continuing this system, with one small change: can we get the thread up by 11am? I'll pop in later in the morning and if there is no thread, I will create one. As I mentioned in the other thread, consistency of this kind creates habits in users and draws in new users as a result. That's it, if you have any questions or suggestions, please speak up here.

Well well well, two in a row against the O's. Can the Sox pull off the sweep? I was looking over this data this morning and it's interesting. It's almost impossible that the Yankees or Orioles can be ousted from a postseason spot so we'll focus on the three central teams instead; Cleveland has the best shot at the ALC division crown but it's far from certain (Twins currently 3GB). Guardians: .509 strength of schedule remaining with some critical matchup. 3 vs NYY, 4 vs MIN, 7 (!) vs KC. Also 2 vs MIL. Twins: .507 strength of schedule remaining. 3 vs BAL, 4 vs CLE, 3 vs KC, 3 vs red-hot Padres, 3 vs Red Sox. Royals: Absolutely obnoxious .527 remaining strength of schedule. Not even gonna break down opponents, the winning percentage speaks for itself. They have far and away the toughest row to hoe. Red Sox: .505 strength of schedule remaining. Kind of amazing none of these teams has a sub-.500 SoS left. Remaining teams include 5 more with BAL, 3 vs NYY, 3 vs MIN, 3 vs AZ, 3 vs NYM, 3 vs HOU. No one has a real advantage down the stretch but it sure looks like KC has the disadvantage.

You chose the Sox because of a single player and stuck with them for decades? That's kind of amazing. -

Our managing editor, Matt Trueblood, is a Cubs fan. I'm a Brewers fan so I have other reasons to dislike the Cards. I also just find their fanbase insufferable. As for the White Sox, they're pretty much hated by Twins fans. No idea if it's reciprocal or not, nor do I care. I try not to interact with White Sox fans after they beat up an opposing base coach the *second* time. -
How are game threads managed?
Brock Beauchamp replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Talk Sox Issues & Suggestions
This is something I’d like to address in time but I’m not concerned about it right now. More specific, shorter topics are more welcoming to new users. New additions to the forum just won’t participate in a 70 page thread started five years ago. But again, not something I’m concerned about this moment. -
How are game threads managed?
Brock Beauchamp replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Talk Sox Issues & Suggestions
Ah, our Cubs site had a similar policy (that kind of fell apart when the Cubs scuffled early this season). I'm totally okay with continuing this, the only change I ask is to get the game thread up each morning. In my experience, consistency with the time and creation of the game thread increases engagement and posts in each thread. When we took over the Cubs site, game threads often sat in the 30-50 post range. Now they're over 100 posts almost every game. -
On the other sites, I pop in every morning and create the game threads. I'm happy to continue that practice over here but don't want to step on toes. Is there any established method or is it just a jump ball every day?

I've asked myself that question a few times and I think the answer is still a resounding "no". BUT the upside here is that because the Twins and Sox play ST in the same city, it streamlines us having on-site ST coverage. -

That's one of the goals, for sure. Our premise for the site is that we take this legacy community and add a bunch of modern features to it: analysis, news, video, loads of interactive features, and essentially try to wrap a protective bubble around a community that has existed for 20 years. From the community side of things, not a lot will change in how the forums are structured and managed. As a long-time forum owner, the proliferation and dominance of Reddit, Twitter/X, and Facebook has ruined so many independent sites and it makes me sad. So much of the personality and fun of the early 2000s internet has been chipped away and if I can preserve small pieces of it here and there, I consider that a success. -

Part of building out the site will be extensive use of social media. And we're starting those out from scratch so if you could give these pages a like/follow, it's really appreciated! Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/talksox X: -

Hi everybody! I'm super-excited to be here and nurture this community into the future. A few things about me: I'm part of a group of five who founded Twins Daily 12 years ago. We all had our own individual sites (I founded mine in the mid-2000s) and combined them into one of the first team-specific supersites around. Over the years as the Twins floundered in the postseason, I found myself wanting to explore other fandoms and apply our knowledge of baseball sites to other fanbases. Personally, I've lived all over the country and at one point or another, became fond of several other teams (Brewers, Padres, and Angels based on where I've lived). So a couple of years ago, we found a Brewers community much like this one and over the course of a year, turned it into Brewer Fanatic. We have extensive tools to focus on user interactivity (which I'll talk about more in time), along with videos, news/analysis articles, user blogs, and a bunch of other cool stuff. At my heart, I'm a baseball fan and don't follow other sports much (I dabble in basketball but that's about it). As a career web developer, my baseball fandom and technical knowledge has allowed me to focus our platform specifically on baseball and nothing else. While my other business partners play around with sites focusing on other sports, I just do baseball. And I'm crazy-excited to explore the Sox fandom and see what new things we can bring to the experience. If you have questions, please ask away! This is a collaborative experience. We chose Talk Sox because of the community; there are plenty of baseball communities out there I won't touch with a ten foot pole because they're toxic. You all seem like a good bunch of people and when it comes to the direction of the community, all of you have a voice in how things are managed. -
I like that baseball is thinking up ways to return starting pitchers to prominence but I don't know if this gets them closer to that happening. The real problem - at least IMO - is max effort all the time and I don't know how to fix that problem.
-
Thanks! Do you listen to any Sox podcasts that focus more on the MLB team?
-
Hi all, I'm wondering who you're listening to and why. I tend to skew toward analytics in my baseball discussion but if you're listening to a Red Sox pod, please mention it here and what you like about it. Thanks!

Thanks! I don't agree with a lot of the ideas in that article but it's certainly an interesting read.
