  1. We will update this roughly once a week through the draft. Instead of trying to create yet another mock draft board, our draft expert Jamie Cameron has taken the route of averaging out popular draft boards, trying to reach a "consensus" slot for a player in the aggregate. Additionally, Jamie has a pretty detailed write-up for each draftee. Right now, we have roughly one round of picks up but this will expand every week as Jamie adds more draft slots and write-ups. http://talksox.com/mlb-baseball-mock-draft-order-2025-boston-red-sox
  2. I'm really interested to see how Cortes does under the Brewers' pitching system. I'm not predicting a return to form but it wouldn't shock me if it happens, either.
  3. The Brewers are probably the most underrated team in baseball. I think they've kinda broken FIP. Their rotation is not the most impressive but it gets the job done and their bullpen is going to be good, just as it always is. They have some arms in the high minors that will likely end up being late-inning MLB guys pretty soon.
  4. I don't think the Brewers pitching is atrocious but it certainly was in that single series. Which is why we don't put too much emphasis on a single series, particularly early in the season.
  5. Here is a good piece on Twins Daily about them. Bombs Away: Torpedo Bats are Taking Over Major League Baseball - Twins - Twins Daily TWINSDAILY.COM Coming out of left field, torpedo bats are all the rage right now. The bowling pin-shaped bat is a shift from tradition, and is being credited with producing more power. Is the hype real? Who on...
  6. Ouch. Now do Javy Baez!
  7. We offer this feature so it's easy to see how much a reliever has worked in the past seven days. Yellow is throwing 1-19 pitches and red means they threw 20+ pitches on a night. You can also find this link under the Resources link roll at the top of the forum index page. https://talksox.com/boston-red-sox-bullpen-usage/
  8. That would have been a weird choice. I've watched Milner a lot. If he's not effective against LHB, he's not effective. One year of relief data isn't going to change that (Milner is a funky delivery guy).
  9. I could make an argument for at least eight AL teams to make it to the series. And once you get there, it's close to a coin flip who wins.
  10. Also, check out this great guide from Maddie:

  12. I can't stand Stephen A Smith for so many reasons. Still, he's occasionally right about something, like his Jackie monologue from a few days ago. But ugh, I still can't stand him.
  13. Mostly we avoid politics, particularly in the forums. On the front page, we allow authors to have more freedom to explore controversial topics, especially when they do as fine a job as Maddie has done here.
  14. I really like this piece. The Tokyo Series was wildly successful and while it will be hard to replicate the intensity of Japanese fans, MLB needs to start tapping into more international markets that love baseball. The Tokyo Series Proves That MLB Needs to Expand Its International Reach - Twins - Twins Daily TWINSDAILY.COM For the second consecutive season, Major League Baseball opened their regular season with an international Opening Day for two clubs. For the second consecutive season, it was a...
  15. I don't know if you listen to Effectively Wild but Meg Rowley (editor of FG) coined the term "Nutting" to describe being cheap and/or awful. It's literally the best derogatory term I've heard for baseball ownership when they "nut" all over a situation.
  16. LOL. Bob Nutting is the absolute worst. I can't believe people will defend him.
  17. What exactly is "present day value" in baseball contracts? Here's a breakdown, straight from an accountant. Sifting Through the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Contract Noise - Blue Jays - Jays Centre JAYSCENTRE.COM The baseball media is mischaracterizing the actual value of contracts with deferred money. Let's get it straight.
