How do I create a blog?
Brock Beauchamp replied to Charlie Hoke's topic in Talk Sox Issues & Suggestions
Yeah, I've never liked the interface on categories. Just create whatever category name you like and then I tend to stick with just the one. I keep meaning to program a default category for those and never get around to it. Thanks for participating in the blogs! -

Dave Stapleton! By the way, this is the last time these will be posted in this manner in the forums. We're creating a new system for posting images that will launch soon. -
Jim Rice's Unbreakable Record
Brock Beauchamp commented on Charlie Hoke's blog entry in Charlie Hoke
I get why baseball is the way it is now, and the on-field performance is better... but the individual performances aren't as much fun from a stat line perspective. Seeing guys strive for 158 games played and a .300 batting average is just FUN from a fan perspective. -

Changes to ads on our forums
Brock Beauchamp replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Talk Sox Issues & Suggestions
I don't run into these often but I also find them infuriating, those are SUPPOSED to be disabled but people who code ads are s***** people and try to subvert the process. All I can say is try to identify which ad is doing it and send it to me with a screenie. I wish I had a better solution. -
Over the next few hours, this change should propagate to all users: We've reduced ad coverage on the forums by about 25% on mobile devices. I've received complaints and also been bothered by how prevalent ads are on phones, specifically on the forums. While there will still occasionally be ad-post-ad situations, it will be rare now and after testing this for several days, I've seen more instances of four posts in a row with no ads between than I've seen ad-post-ad situations. Hopefully this makes browsing and participating on the forums a more pleasant experience on mobile devices!

Dreaming Of Baseball Writing? Create A Blog With Talk Sox!
Brock Beauchamp posted a blog entry in Battle Your Tail Off
1. Create Your Blog When you click the Blogs section on the top menu, you'll be taken to a list of most the most recent entries from our community. At the top of this feed you'll see the "Create a Blog" button. Click it and you'll be asked to enter a few high-level details: the title of your blog within the site (i.e., "John's Red Sox Blog" or something more clever/creative), a brief description, and the category it will belong to (if you're not sure, just pick "General"). To hop on over to the blog index page now, click here. 2. Publish Your First Entry Congrats, you have a blog! Now give people a reason to come check it out. On your blog page, you'll see a red button on the right-hand side, "Add Blog Entry." Click it to draft your content. Here you can either compose within the CMS, or copy-and-paste what you've written elsewhere (Word, Google Doc, notes app, etc.). You'll also be prompted to choose a category for your post (select "Use an existing entry category" and pick the one that fits best, or create a new one). You can either publish immediately or schedule it to go live in the future. 3. Support Your Position with Stats We now support copying and pasting Baseball-Reference and FanGraphs stat tables directly into the site! Just pop on over to this blog and find out how to do it! 4. Tips to Make Your Blog Look Great First, upload an image! Just below the blog entry area, you will see a Featured Photo bar. Grab a photo and drag it into that space, which will upload the image, feature it, and make it more likely your blog will be noticed (and commented on). 5. Promote and Keep Blogging Talk Sox has a naturally built-in audience of passionate Sox fans, so your content will likely get some views on its own. But spread the word! Tell your friends to check it out and share it on your social media profiles. Keep writing regularly to hone your skills and grow your readership. Those who post consistently high-quality content in the blogs often get the opportunity to move up to the (paid) front page. -

Vote For Your Top Red Sox Prospects!
Brock Beauchamp posted a topic in Talk Sox Issues & Suggestions
Help us build our first top 20 prospect list of the 2025 season! Unlike other publications, Talk Sox allows all users to help build our top prospect rankings. Anyone with a Talk Sox account can participate and give their input on who you think should be in the Red Sox's top prospects list. Before you vote, you can hit our top prospects page for the latest stats and news on Red Sox prospects while on the voting page, every name is a clickable link that brings up their current stat card. Voting is simple, just follow the instructions below! Here's the rundown how to participate: 1. You must have an account and be logged in to vote. If you don't have an account, click here. It literally requires 60 seconds to create an account. 2. Review our current top 20 prospect list, catch up on stats, rankings, etc. (you can do so from the voting page link below) 3. Have your prospect list in your filthy little paws? Then flip on over to the new prospect voting page (after reading the rest of this, please). https://talksox.com/prospect-voting 4. Voting is super simple, you drag and drop players in the order you wish them to be. After you move a prospect, the list automatically renumbers so you don't lose track of the order. This works on mobile devices but it's a *vastly* better experience on desktop. Sorry, that's just how this kind of thing works. There's no great way to make something like this be as awesome on a phone screen. 5. Each prospect has a comment section where you can add any commentary you have on that player. At the bottom of the list, there is a general comment section to explain over-arching things you wish to mention. 6. Don't see a prospect you want to put on the list? Just pop back here and give me a mention (in a comment, start typing @Brock Beauchamp or @Brandon Glick as it appears). Mention the prospect you want added and I will do that asap. 7. Once you're done with all of it, click Save. You've now voted! 8. When the voting closes, a new thread will automatically generate in this forum with all of your rankings and comments for everyone to read and talk about. 9. You can only vote once. If you have voted in error, pop back here and tag Brock, asking to have your vote deleted. It will be removed and you can vote again. View full article -
