I do think Hughes is likely to out-pitch Saunders tonight the way Saunders is going. O's had their shot last night.....maybe they will learn something as ballplayers from this experience....maybe not. Thought if the O's lost last night they would come back tonight and force it to 5. Not even sure that is going to happen the way the middle of the O's order is going and the way Saunders is pitching.

Like I said...not impressed with Showalter.

And here goes the hapless O's hitters again.

Unbelievable....Goodnight Irene...

...more badly badly played baseball.

If Baltimore was a real baseball town Jones would be run out of town on a rail by the time he got back.

Machado made the mistake, he's 20, it's the risk you run when you play a 20 yr old. That being said, the K of Davis was huge. Jones looks like he's given up.

We will see who can play small ball the best. We just put a runner on 2nd with 0 outs. Lets see if we get him home

As critical as I have been of the division series play so far this year...this series is the worst of them...probably because it is featuring the two teams that least deserve to be here.

Tonight we have two pitchers going that so far just pretty awful....neither guy has his best stuff and are rarely making any pitches worth a damn and neither team's hitters can do a thing about it.....have already seen more indifferent play and mental mistakes in almost three innings than you would expect from a whole game.

Ibanez has been entirely of the baseball worth watching in two at bats and even then, you have to question what the hell Showalter and his pitching coach were doing both times.

Saunder's pitch to Tex...best pitch he has made all night.

The bolded comment above is retarded. The Yankees had the best record in the AL. The O's fended off the Rays and Angels and outplayed the Rangers in the play-in game (which would have been played anyway since the O's and Rangers had the same record).

And either will be blown out of the ALCS the way they are playing.

The fact is the AL East is not what it was....not by a long shot...tried to warn people of that before the year even got started.

Saunders obviously cannot live all night on breaking balls and he knows it but every FB he throws is dying to leave the yard. Of course ARoid can't leave the yard any longer apparently.

Staggering an O's Hr....solo of course....this game should be about 5-3 with both starters on the ropes at this point....Oh the drama!

And Bubblegum Jones fails again.

Geez finally....a very good play by an Oriole...maybe that will energize them in their half....I don't know if anything can energize them...have been sleepwalking through most of these games.

bankees will win this one on a jeter bitch hit or an unlikely HR from someone like martin. It's just the evil side of life. Anyway, Detroit better get on the ball and put the A's away soon.

Crappy thing about Detroit if they win , They won't have Verlander going game 1 .

I hope The O's can force a game 5 so at least CC will be used there as well.

May not matter who Detroit puts out there in game 1 if it is the Yanks. If they could not hit Saunders pitching the way he way pitching tonight, I am not sure they could hit anybody.....truly anybody!

Hate to say it but I think these two teams ARE representative of what the AL East has become.

jeter now hitting .438 in the post season. This is the same guy that was falling apart a few years back. By next season he'll probably beat Teddy's .406. It's a God damned miracle, he's the Benjamin Button of baseball.

We ride Jeter to much over the so called Bitch hit....he is taking pitches the way they are pitched and simply putting them where they ain't. You can't call it a Bitch hit when he does it time and time again and does it based on what the pitcher is throwing and what the Yanks might need at that time in the game.

Gotta' hand it to him...he has found a way to extend his career in way that may be hard to stop until his eyes finally get to old to see the damn thing!

Without Matchbox Stadium, the Yanks would have been the same pop the rest of the AL East was this year..in fact they are the same pop with somewhat better pitching.

bankee$ have a way of getting guys that defy the laws if nature and get better with age.

Verlander with two K's in the first inning....Cespedas got a hit but I think they will be rare as hen's teeth tonight

Have to admit though that Jeter has completely changed his hitting style over the years to something that resembles Wade Boggs in his later years only even more effective I think. Very hard thing to do cause it still takes ridiculous bat control and a level of experience that is hard to come by. Most would be home on their couches instead of batting lead off for the Spanks.

I have never seen such poor division series play in general and have never seen such a pathetic single series as the O's/Yanks series. How much badness can they fit into one short series?
