I hate to say this, because I really don't agree about catchers affecting a pitchers ERA, but I may be changing my stance. The fact (which has been brought up a lot here) that Salty sets up late really does seem to have affected some of the pitchers. So, here are some numbers for Lester.

Lester pitching to:

Shoppach: 3.70 ERA, 43 K, 9 BB

Lavarnway: 2.25 ERA (14 IP), 11 K, 2 BB

Salty: 6.08 ERA, 79 K, 35 BB

I mean. It's really hard to argue with those numbers. I really, really hope that Lavarnway gets a lot of the starts at C the rest of the season.

I think I would agree that the differences one catcher to the next should not be that great but Salty is so terrible....not only does he tend to set up late but he sets up just about every time, about an inch or two one way or the other of the middle of the plate. Pitchers grow used to aiming for the middle of the mitt. It is what they do. Where the catcher puts it is where the pitcher is going to try to throw it.

Bogaerts went deep again tonight.

Iglesias is hitting .342 in his last 10 games with a .432 OBP. He's taken 6 walks in his past 10 games. He has taken 6 walks in his last 10 games. He only had 21 walks in all of last season. That's a big sign that he's learning himself as a hitter. Plate discipline is always the last to come.

Ciriaco had another 4 hit game tonight and lead the Red Sox to a win over the Yankees.

Aviles sucks. He has no purpose on this team. At this point, I'd like to see Ciriaco at 3B, Iglesias at SS for the rest of the season.

Pitiful performance by Ells and Crawford in the 9th , 2nd and 3rd with one out.

When is Valentine going to get Ells off the leadoff? The guy couldn't get a walk if his effin'' life depended on it.

Ciriaco is the logical leadoff guy at this point. Hotter than hell. 4 hits today. And stinging the ball like an all-star.

The Red Sox are so effin' stodgy. They take forever to make changes.

And what was wrong with pitching Breslow in the 9th with two left handers coming up? Oh, pardon me, we can't interfere with Aceves' save opportunity. BS.

This is a dumb organization playing dumb baseball. They ain't going nowhere without changes upstairs.

Don't hold your breath. I pity those season ticket holders. Bail out, folks.

Um. Ciriaco has a 1.8% BB%.

Somebody put a cherry bomb on Cherington's seat--to wake him up.

They won't move Ells off of lead off. That is why I end up resigning myself to some of this s*** and just makin' the best of it.

At least I get to see Ciriaco moving on the bases since he is down in the order where the Stogy Sox are not so reluctant to allow him to use his speed. This team is done this year anyway and if they move Ciriaco to the top of the order then it will only be a game or two watching their s*** when the steam will start comin' outta' my ears.

As for Iggy I get the distinct impression that if during a presser somebody asked BC about him BC's response would be "Iggy Who"?

Hey a win! Lester is coming around' date=' and Beckett had a decent start by his standards last time out.[/quote']

As long as they can keep lavarnway at catcher and salty at DH. We can win some more games

When Phelps keeps his change and curve down they're really nasty. But I saw him leave a good amound of them up this season.

This kid definitely has a future in our rotation. I just hope they dont deal him away for 50 cents on the dollar

No, Ross at DH. But, they will have to call up someone for CC. Probably Kalish.
