The A's feed is showing the inside of the Red Sox dugout. They are all sitting down with their heads down. They look like they are at a funeral. These guys are pathetic. No enthusiasm at all. Dead.

Way ta' go Salty...we can at least hope that Colon will make as many mistakes to the Sox as Lester is likely to make to the A's

Yet another first pitch swiniging for Gonbozo.

I sure hope something is physically wrong with him because if this is what we are going to get for what-six more years?- its going to be Epstein's worst signing of all.

Rizzo already looking really good. Theo is trolling this team.

This time last year, Salty had 5 HR.

He's now got 16. Pretty big leap.

He didn't play this many games last year with Tek catching quite a bit. but his SLG is awesome for a catcher.

Yeh. Played 51 of first 81 games last year, 63 of first 81 this year.

But regardless, that's a crazy improvement.

He did something like this last year too. Then he fell off the cliff as the summer wore on. If he can keep it up, great. I think we should bring up Lavarnway and get rid of Shoppach so Salty can get more rest without sacrificing as much offense.

I honestly am in favor of shopping lavs as part of a deal for a starter. I like jarrod as the starter going forward and I can see Ryan being a nice piece in a deal for a good sp.

Lavarnway is a good hitter. Post Papi you're going to need his close to .300 BA and 25HR bat.

Lets see where the team is after the Yankees series. If we are still 7 behind or more there is no point in bringing anyone here because there is no one who can save our season. Therefore, there is no need to give up one of our top prospects. IMO.

I had that thought as well. Using him as a DH but if we can land a great starting pitcher for him, I'd be all in favor. I wouldn't mind the team going your way either though.

If the word on Lavs was that he was improving defensively at a faster pace then Salty then I would be more up on Lavs but Salty has improved a great deal defensively from about the end of May to today. Still makes some horrid mistakes and I really don't know how they are going to cure some of this...can't have the kinds of defensive lapses he has when they score runs over the place on the field that is your responsibility. Hitting home runs at a relatively low BA is fine for a catcher but said catcher has got to play better behind the plate than Salty has played so far. Hopefully his defensive improvement has not peaked here.

I know it's just a post on a forum but I think someone on sosh made a very sound argument that jarrod is actually above average defensively as a catcher. I'll try to dig it up some time. Something about his pitch framing ability being worth a lot.

And the pitchers seem to like him and he is only 27.

Need pitching in a much' date=' much worse way than we need offense.[/quote']

We don't need offense at all.

If gonzo and Pedroia were performing at their avg level or better this offense would be #1 all categories. Factor in classic Ells & CC and it's sorta nuts, like TB/BB offensive production.

Problem is solely on SP. please fix it cherry!

Boy I don't know about that...I really don't think Salty frames pitchs all that well but he is getting better at it....no question.

Agreed. Once everything comes together and Ben maybe adds a SP. no way we aren't fighting for the division with new York. Lester, Beckett, and clay with morales/doubie plus perhaps one of garza/Grienke/Hamels?

I'll take that any day.
