Use this thread to discuss the C's for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Rundown of moves so far this summer:

June 28th: Celtics draft Jared Sullinger, Fab Melo, and Kris Joseph with #21, #22, and #51 picks respectively.

June 30th: Celtics agree to re-sign Kevin Garnett to 3 year, $34 million deal.

July 3rd: Celtics and ex-Mav Jason Terry agree to 3 year, $15 million contract.

Brandon Bass and Ray Allen are still free agents. The former wants to return, Ray may have his eyes on Miami.

Trades and free agent signings won't become official until July 11th.

I like the Jason terry pickup.... At their respective points in their careers, I'd rather have terry than Allen , and the fact that he thrives from coming off the bench is a plus....

Bass is a " must sign " plain and simple

I would of rathered signed KG for 2 yrs instead of 3, but he probably retires before the end of the contract anyways

I'm not sold on fab melo and I honestly don't know an awful lot about him

Love the sullinger pick , little bit of risk but very high reward with him.. I live in Ohio and watched every OSU gm , sully is a ball player , not the flashiest or prettiest out there, but he knows how to score and he knows the game of basketball... Boston fans will love him, bank on it

What I heard about Sully is that he is in the mold of Glen Davis. Not particularly athletic, but a wide body who can score and rebound. If he can play good defense, I am all for him.

Melo is a work in progress. He was a soccer player and in college played in a zone mostly. He is considered athletic and might be a good defender of the rim once he develops.

That's a bad comparison. Neither is a good defender, but that's where the similarities end. Sullinger has the best offensive post game of anyone in the past two draft classes, and is a rock solid rebounder. Davis can't rebound to save his life and has zero post game. The only useful thing he ever did was hit the occasional 15 footer.

Melo is another Kendrick Perkins if he pans out. Good defense, passable on the boards, no offensive game to speak of.

Yeah, sully is a 2 time All-American and would of been a top 5 pick if he left after his freshman yr....

The injury concerns are the ONLY reason we were able to draft him at #21..... And those concerns don't represent a "chronic" yearly condition, only that he may have a shorter career because of some " possible" back issues

My lasting memory of Ray will be 'the guy who shot the Lakers back into game 7 in 2010'. Regardless, best of luck to him in Miami. As usual, my facebook feed is blowing up with the usual Celtic homer dipshits going 'omg rae allin iz ded 2 meeeee!!11! >:[' and similar garbage.

I am very familiar with Jared Sullinger. I followed him while he was in college. I went to Ohio State for two years and actually had the opportunity of meeting him. He is very mature. He had 20 points in his debut in the Summer League. Sullinger is not the most athletic, but he will also surprise some people. He is very solid in the post, can knock down jumpshots, and is a very smart basketball player. The injuries are a big concern. He has had back problems at a young age. He has also had some problems with tight hamstrings and quads. I think he will be a nice addition to the team. He will be a nice offensive addition to the team. He was double teamed and sometimes triple teamed in college. That will not be the case for him in the NBA. I think he will be a good player.

I do not know so much about Melo, but I am liking what I am hearing. He has a lot of length, is a solid rebounder, and a solid defensively. He will be a nice addition. He will be limited with playing time since he does not have many offensive skills, but he will be able to help us out defensively.

Melo is 7-0 and Sullinger is 6-9. Melo has the height and the defensive skills. Sullinger is undersized, but has the offensive skills. Overall they are both nice additions to the team.

He was also the guy who shot the Celtics back into that series in game 2.
