Red Sox missing both Hammel AND Chen in this series? Uh. Yes please.

 

This could very well turn into a 3 game sweep for the Sox. The Sox are playing extremely well right now, hitting the ball very well, pitching well, and are going up against the bottom 3 of the Orioles staff.

 

The Orioles are also facing our #3-5 SP. I would be very satisfied with winning two games in Baltimore.

I would be happy with 2/3 but I really am feeling a sweep. But winning the series is all this team needs to consistently do and they will be fine.

Over the last 7 days, the Sox pitching staff has a 2.31 ERA, whereas Baltimore is starting to come back down to earth with a 4.33 ERA.

 

The two teams are trending in opposite directions, and the 3 pitchers the Sox face have been putrid of late.

 

Hunter has given up 11 ER in his past 17.1 IP (5.71 ERA)

Matusz has given up 12 ER in his past 16.1 IP (6.61 ERA)

Arrieta has given up 14 ER in his past 14 IP (9.00 ERA)

 

So I would say there is some reason for optimism.

 

 

i hear ya and i also like you stats, but at times we have dug a hole for ourselves and this is the time to come out of it. i dont care what their pitchers have done cuz no matter who we face at times our hitters are clueless suddenly after a good series win at phillies but bear in mind Lee is coming of an injury and might have been rusty...

for starters some solid performance from Bucchy tonight. he needs to keep them off balanced. one pitch one inning at a time. that is what the great catcher Jason Varitek preached. man do i miss him at times. that calm confidence and him being incharge..
