We need a lot more flexibility at the DH position. We handcuffed ourselves horribly in interleague play by having our biggest bat unavailable.

Youk clearly isn't going to be an everyday 3B, he's entirely too fragile, and would be much better suited at DH. Then again, who are we going to get to play 3B? Middlebrooks isn't ready. The FA market for 3B is atrocious. Should be interesting.

Saltys catcher ERA????? 4.63

Variteks catcher ERA??? 3.85

Exactly. I bet Carlos Ruiz's catcher is pretty good. He must be a better catcher, and it has nothing to do with catching Halladay/Lee/Hamels/Oswalt/Worley every game.

Guys, I dont think you're gonna be able to dump Lackey. He has 3 yrs and $49.5 million left on his deal. And...he was the worst pitcher in baseball by far, actually the worst regular season starter since Jose Lima in 2005. Unless the sox outright release him, he's on your team in 2012. Your best bet it to hope that Lackey can get back to mediocrity in 2012 (4.5ish ERA) and might be worth a cheap flyer as a salary dump by another team willing to take on $5 mil per yr in salary.

I will not "cheer up". Does Drew leaving all of a sudden make everything last night go away? I'll cheer up next year if we make the playoffs.

One thing that should cheer all sox fans on this site up is that we're all getting season tickets!

A piece of advice, you need to take a little vacation from Talksox. Everyone knows Lackey is untradeable, they just want to find solace in the possibility of dumping him.

Look on the bright side everyone. Atleast we get free tickets from RSFFL out of the deal:lol:

you beat me to it! Might wanna change your sig' date=' btw[/quote']

Why would I change my sig? Believing in my team isn't a season-to-season thing. and I believe in the Detroit Tigers now.

I'm sorry, but unless you can sign someone who can reproduce Papi's production, I'm not comfortable losing him, especially when he'll be relatively cheap and short term in all likelihood.

This team is good, just underperforming. If Crawford returns to his norms, which I feel he will, we will see a huge improvement. Should improve at C and SS, and of course the big issue, is starting pitching.

I would love to see Wilson in a Sox uniform, but I fear he is going to be seriously overpriced for a guy who's had 1 good year and 1 excellent year as a starting pitcher.

Thank god JD will be gone.

I'm still going to papelbon my head off.

I hope he doesn't resign and ends up closing for the Astros or something.

False. So false. Name a better option? Please.

This is the second time in three years that we've seen the season end with him on the mound. He's not worth the 4/60 that some are predicting.

Goes to show you how competitive the AL East is. Best division in baseball by far. They are really doing something right in Tampa though, Imagine what they could do with a new stadium that actually sits in Tampa.
