9/25 Sox vs. Yankees DOUBLEHEADER

Sox up 1.5 games right now, 2 in the loss column. There is time to right the ship, but they have to win. Lots of scenarios could play out for the rest of the season, but the easiest one to calculate is this: win and you're in. 5 games to go, win them all and nobody can catch you.

 

This could be the last game for Tim Wakefield in a Sox uniform. These could be the last Sox-Yankees game for long-established rivalry guys like David Ortiz, Jon Papelbon, and Jason Varitek.

 

The Red Sox owe themselves and us as fans more than what they have given us. I hope that someone on the team can find the voice and strength to provide some leadership, stop the slide, and get them a win.

Should be an interesting couple games tomorrow. I suspect the Yankees will treat this doubleheader like they did against the Rays earlier in the week. Play half the starters in one game, and the other half in the second game. I'd be surprised if Joe gave anyone a full day off, but I guess that's always possible.

You've got your best chance in game 1 with Wake vs Burnett. Burnett has been dogshit for awhile now and Wake always has the chance to spin a gem if the flutterball flutters away from bats. In the nightcap, Lackey has been the worst pitcher in baseball, and Nova, at least over the last 3 months or so, has been one of the best.
