Hi everyone,

Let me introduce myself: My name is Ryan and I'm from the UK. I want to start getting into baseball, but I don't have a team.

What I want to know is: What is it that you love about the Red Sox, and what makes them a great team to follow?

We're not the Yankees which means we are substantially less evil. That's at the top of the list.

Well when I began the process of narrowing down the MLB teams, the first thing I did was eliminate the Yankees.

I had a whole heap of criteria through which to pick a team, the first of which was "I do not wish to follow the Yankees."

Yeah, neo-nazism doesn't really go over too well with people nowadays.

Because the Yankees are a baseball machine. They make everyone shave and behave. We're not quite the free spirited band of idiots we used to be, but we let our players express themselves.

Plus we don't have a bald guido ringleader whose soul purpose in life is to scream at the players from the bleachers.

Yoooooooooooo!!!! Vinnnnny!!!!!!!!! SHUT THE f*** UP!!!!

The players, the city that they play for, the history, and loyal fans. I agree with B22407, the Red Sox are sort of like a stress reliever to me. I love this team so much I've begged my parents over and over again to take me to Fenway just one time.

With the demise of old Yankee Stadium and Tiger Stadium there are only 2 parks left that capture the true depth and scope of the history of baseball -- Fenway and Wrigley Field. And Wrigley is falling apart.

Never been able to afford it. Besides, no ballpark built by man is built to really seat me comfortably. Even if I wasn't uncomfortably overweight, I'm built like a tank.

I am in Chicago right now on a week vacation and am going to Wrigley on Saturday.

Cubs vs Astros? I always wanted to see a minor league game but never got around to it.

I've seen minor leagues before but Saturday I'll be seeing little league.

When I was growing up, (not that long ago considering I'm 15, but I was like 5 lol) I was introduced to baseball by my grandfather and mother. My grandfather is a Reds and Yankees fan (we are from Indianapolis, so its the proximity and the logo, I guess, but I think he liked them for Mickey) and my mother is a Cubs fan because my father was the true Cubs fan until his death. I never liked the Cubs or Reds, and the rebellious side of me said to hate them all. So I did. I took a liking to Nomar Garciaparra, and it was only fitting that the Red Sox hated the Yankees, like me. So, for as long as I can remember, I've been a Red Sox fan. And that is what I like about the BoSox. The fans are real, and we are a family. The bandwagoners head to New York, and the BoSox head to the World Series.
