Chickens are being counted before they even begin to hatch.

This is what this site is built on. That and giving Yankees fans more anxiety is always a good way to pass the time.

He says he won't opt out' date=' and I trust him a little more than arod. But then again, he is an athlete and it would benefit him financially. I know I'd do it[/quote']

CC has left open the possibility of opting out today.

"I have no idea [if I will opt out,]" a noticeably lighter Sabathia said in the Yankees clubhouse Monday morning, as pitchers and catchers reported. "It is still in my contract. Anything is possible."

He was reminded Monday that he has said that he would see that contract to the end.

"I said that," Sabathia said. "I'm here to try and help the team win. I don't want to talk about that all year."

When a reporter pressed, Sabathia quickly turned the attention to the present.

"I'm here," Sabathia said. "I'm in the clubhouse."

Makes me wonder that if he is going to opt out if he said something to Lee that affected his choice of not coming to NY, considering the two of them are close.

Can you imagine if Sabathia went to the Phillies next year?

So how's Cliff Lee working out for you then?

We can't know for sure that he'll return to the Yankees, but drawing a comparison between Sabathia's situation and Lee's situation is pointless.

I'm not sure so don't attack me but I think he was talking about how the Yankees throw the most money and come up shirt. If that's what he meant then he can make that statement. Jacko thinks that if he they throw more money they will lock him up.

Yeah, we all know that the Yankees aren't guaranteed to get who they want. But here's how the exchange went.

Point (Jacko): Even if CC opts out, the Yankees will be able to re-sign him.

Counter-Point (Dojji): Look at what happened to Cliff Lee.

It's a bad comparison because there are obvious differences between the two scenarios. If Dojji's point is to remind us that the Yankees aren't 100% guaranteed to retain CC, then wonderful, but every single person who follows baseball knows that. So I read it as an attempt at a legitimate counter-point.

I dont think he was countering that he is gonna re-sign. But just that Jacko was saying there was like no chance that Lee didnt go to the Yankees. You know?

Why is there a need to counter something that is obviously an exaggeration? Jacko knows CC isn't guaranteed to come back. You know CC isn't guaranteed to come back. But there's an excellent chance of it, even if he opts out, and that was Jacko's point.

The reason you bring up Lee in that instance is to draw a comparison between CC and Lee.

He'll go from being one of the richest players on the Yankees to one of the richest players at Hometown Buffet.

Epic Warren Sapp burn knock-off dude. You're so busted.

CC loves NY. And because of CC's presence we didn't HAVE to go crazy for Lee. If CC opts out (which is the correct business decision), there is no way any team is close to NY in salary or years. Lee left 15-20 mil on the table. CC would be leaving 30+ on the table if he left

Barring something unforseen, Sabathia is expected to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract, a source with knowledge of the situation told Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News.

I doubt it. LHSP's are pure gold in this market, he'll get paid by someone, but my scenario I have in my head is that he'd be willing to leave that money on the table to guarantee more years. Guaranteed years are important to ballplayers, and trading a little money now for long term security later tends to be a move they think seriously about.

Dojji, there is no team that would come within 30 million and no team would offer more yrs than NY. They didnt blow Philly out of the water for Lee because they had CC. If CC opts out, then they will go crazy. Remember when they signed him, the nearest reported offer to the Yankees one was 2 yrs shorter and $61 million cheaper. The Yanks broke the bank once and they will do it again. He is the one guy we cannot lose
