Hey everyone! I just have a dumb question about buying tickets. I live in Virginia and always travel a few times a year to see the Sox play. Last year I made it to Fenway, but mostly I go to Camden yards. This year I want to go see them at the Pirates (only because it's on a weekend) but there are only 3rd tier seats left. I'm thought tickets went on sale yesterday. How could they virtually sell out in 1 day? And of course stubhub is already jacked the prices up 5 times. I would expect Fenway to sellout in 1 day, but not Pittsburgh. Are alot of you guys traveling down to see them, or are the Pirates fan buying them up to rip me off later? it's very frustrating!!

Anyway, this is more of a rant really than anything. I am stoked about the season starting. I have a good feeling about this year!!!

I have a friend from Pittsburgh. From what I gather, the Red Sox and Yankees each play one series in Pittsburgh roughly around once every 5-10 years. So, when you have one of the two most popular franchises coming into town for a very rare series in Pittsburgh, tickets get sold quick, and since its a weekend game, that doesn't help anything. She doesn't get to a lot of games, but when the Yankees were there last year, she made sure to get tickets. I don't personally know anyone traveling to Pittsburgh, but Sox fans have been known to travel, and its not much different in distance than Toronto/Baltimore.

Also, not all tickets went on sale yesterday.

yeah I guess that makes sense. I am so used to going to Baltimore every year where no Orioles fans want to be when the Sox are there. So getting tickets early is easy. The O's fans I know actually avoid the games because of all the Sox fans. I guess I'll just have to pay the stubhub prices then! I was so excited too, about getting cheap tickets!

Palodios has got it; since the Sox go to Camden Yards every year, there is not the same demand as in Pittsburgh. I have been living in Pittsburgh since 2006 and have been waiting (not so) patiently for the arrival of the Sox!

I knew the games in Pittsburgh would sell out but I didn't think it would happen in February! Luckily for me as a Sox fan in Pittsburgh, Cleveland is only a 2 hour drive and the Sox are there in April and May.

I'm going to the game on the 25th of June. I've always been somewhat of a closet Pirates supporter (despite being a Yankee fan I've always enjoyed rooting for the underdogs, which explains my strange attraction to the Expos as well back when they were in Montreal lol) and I've always wanted to see PNC so I figured this would be a great opportunity.

I think every Pirates fan is a closet Pirates fan.

Haha probably true. That's why I classify myself as a (closet) Pirates supporter lol  . I've got 3 or 4 teams ahead of them. I am definitely a fan of their ballpark though, it's absolutely gorgeous. And a lot of people who've had the opportunity to visit most/all Major League stadiums say it's probably the best.
