The players home video offered something not seen before. The hour went so fast. It all turned on Dave Roberts stealing second base. That was as intense as baseball gets with Rivera trying to hold him on. Missing was any comments from the yankees players or even Torre about their collapse. Maybe over time they'll open up about it.

It was a two parter' date=' you might have missed the first two hours. Also, the original 1-9 innings were perfection. The 10th was too roid focused.[/quote']

I didn't realize that. Read about it in TV Guide and dvr'd it. I'll check to see if PBS has it "on demand". Thanks for the info! :)

I liked "Four Days in October" too. I felt that if you weren't familiar with those teams and that particular series that it was a ton of info stuffed into an hour. I liked Lenny Clarke and Bill Simmons commentary.

Just a couple criticisms:

Not enough Lowe

Not enough Foulke (he had as mug screen time as Curtis F'n Leskanic)

No Bellhorn HR in Game 7, which quelled all the fears after Pedro came back out

Not enough Mueller

Agree on all points. One hour is not enough time to appropriately tell that story.

It was enough time to tell the story to those who remember experiencing it so vividly. To the uninitiated I think it missed some of the heros.

Exactly.

Exactly.

Fortunately, my wife and I were initiated, so it brought me chills.

That video, and the substantial time afforded by Ken Burns in the most recent Baseball movie gave me a nice dose of mid-2000's Red Sox glory.

Those series with the Yankees were simply epic and the story of 2004 is better than the best works of fiction. Simply too good to be true.
