I am hoping on the day off tom that theo tries to make a move for a hitter on the Waiver Wire we need a spark .

i think it's going to take more than just one move. 4 members of our lineup are on the disabled list and john lackey and josh beckett are both having the worst years of their career

under those same circumstances, i don't think the 1998 yankees could make up this many games

a700' date=' do you think it's a fair statement to say that you're also one of the snarkier posters on the site?[/quote']When have I made a snarky remark directed at you. You see I don't think bashing a player or manager or the FO is snarky, because I am not directing that at a poster. I am one of the harsher critics of players, management etc., but when have I been snarky to you.

i'm not complaining that you're snarky, i find it to be entertaining. all i said is that it's the pot calling the kettle black if you call out another poster for being snarky

A lot of heated back and forth on this board among those who are still blowing on the glowing ember of the cowpie that was the 2010 season (a la Bear Grylls) and those who are ready to write it off due to the athletic and mathmatical improbability of the Sox coming back.

I was making fiery and combative posts in May saying that they didn't look sufficiently competitive. Even with a sweep of Tampa this team won't be in line for the WC.

None of this is particularly "bad news" as the Sox likely would lose in the playoffs anyway. However, they have something like the 5th best record in baseball and are comparable to previous seasons. There have been a lot of bright spots this year and a lot of unanswered questions due to injuries. 2011 and 2012 could be very good seasons.

i think pretty much everyone here is come to grips with the fact that we're not going to make the playoffs barring some kind of miracle. but i don't think anyone's ready to write off the season and stop watching. we love this team even if they don't make the playoffs

God, I hate when you get all "glass half full" when the team's season is getting flushed down the toilet. I can't be so philosophical about it, because I live in NY, and if they go back to back, I will have a miserable Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. You live safely in ally territory, don't you?:D

Ally territory is anywhere that isn't NY, isn't it?

It is pretty easy to be glass half full when a "bad season" results in the team having the 5th best record in baseball and being arguably a top 3 team. This team's future is bright.
