That's not the point. The point is that Jamie Moyer is probably a better pitcher than any of the crap Cleveland tossed our way (Carmona non-withstanding) and we couldn't knock out any of them.

This team can hammer average and good pitching but seems to be getting baffled by s***** pitching.

Moyer is a joke. I don't consider him good or average. I'd rush to grab a bat and hit against him rather than Masterson who throws hard and whose ball moves like crazy.

First it was that Beltre was a mistake' date=' then it was that we had no MIF, now it's the fact that Lowell has no role, well he has a role now and for as long as Youk's out. Stop beating that drum.[/quote']

No, at first I was happy that they got Beltre because it meant that we were going to get rid of that horror show, Kotchman. I still thought we would sign an OFer, either Bay or Holliday, and I thought they would move Lowell. They didn't do either. That created an IF logjam where Lowell has no role and VMart has to catch too much. He sucks as a catcher, and it would be optimal if he could play some first or DH, but there is no room for that. Does this mean that Beltre is not a good player? No. I have said repeatedly that it is not his fault. The roster is too heavily weighted with first baseman/third baseman and DHs and we have no depth in the OF. The argument has not changed, so don't be a tool and try to make it seem like it has. It hasn't. You love Beltre. Fine. He's a good player, but we needed OF depth not another third baseman.

P.S. Youk has some back spasms and he'll be back in a couple of days and Lowell will have no role and we will still have no MIF..

David Huff?

Mitch Talbot?

Masterson doesn't know where the hell that ball is headed half the time, but when he does know where it's heading, then he gets it done.

V-Mart has looked much better at C, specifically controlling the running game.

Bill Hall is our backup MIF, get over it.

We don't know when Youkilis is coming back, in the meantime, it's a good thing we have Mike Lowell, who's probably getting traded anyway. And hey, i wanted Holliday as much as you did, but it didn't happen, now how does this explain the fact that you keep bringing up the mental logjam?

Bottom line this team needs a good MILF or they aren't going anywhere. You just can't win in this league without an awesome MIF

Ever since we let go of Kotsay we lost more than just a backup OF ;)

Hell yeah we did.

Bill Hall is our backup MIF' date=' get over it.[/quote']He sucks as a MIF. Get over it. I heard that he has 17 errors in 105 games at second base. That sucks big time.

And hey' date=' i wanted Holliday as much as you did, but it didn't happen, now how does this explain the fact that you keep bringing up the mental logjam?[/quote']Because the roster is still lopsided. In fact, with Beltre running down our OFers like an out of control freight train, our roster is more lopsided now than at the start of the season. We have career AAA McDonald starting and back up MIF Hall also starting in the OF. When Hall is playing LF every day because Beltre has knocked two of our OFers into next month, who is our backup MIF... Varitek?

If Pedroia or Scutaro has the day off... its obvious that Hall would take over for one of them with McDonald or Reddick/different call-up/trade being slotted in left field
..and if one of them gets a bump or a bruise and has to miss 3 or 4 games it means Hall plays the IF with Reddick and McDonald in the OF, because Cameron cannot go everyday with his guts hangin out. Hall is a s***** MIF. He's a good backup OF, but not good in the IF, except for very limited spot duty. Injuries happens, and I've been hearing that Scutaro has a bad back.

Scutaro has a bulging disc between the 6th and 7th vertebrae and a pinched nerve. This has caused numbness and loss of strength in his left arm. He says he has problem gripping a bat.

Two cortisone injections have kept him on the field where he has been productive.

He's a walking time bomb.

That is not good news at all, and we have him for two seasons along with Cameron. The Sox docs have come under fire for misdiagnosing Ellsbury and now Hermida, but I guess they also missed Cameron's hernia and Scutaro's bulging discs in the physicals prior to signing. A year or two back they missed Kotsay's bad back, and let's not forget Schilling's shoulder and Lowell's hip. Jacko would do a better job.

This says Lowell is may be in his final Red Sox days. Rosenthal wrote it, so he'll probably still be on the bench in September, because Rosenthal is almost always wrong. He's the anti-me.

Lol at the "anti-me"!

In defense of Gill, the diagnosis of fractured ribs is not so straight forward. Non displaced fractures are difficult to detect (Jacko has said this) from what I've been told by my Doctors (I've had rib fractures twice, at least). Gill held a teleconference Friday. He said the same thing. With rib injuries, they assume the worst case scenario (a fracture) and treat it as such. Even if it is a contusion. I think that in this case (Ellsbury had 4 MRI and CT scans), the Sox medical staff did their job as well as anyone could have asked. Ellsbury is now on the DL for another rib fracture.

I don't know what the medical status of either Scutaro or Cameron was prior to signing.

I suspect both had a pre existing condition that was deemed, at the time, a reasonable risk. I would not have spent $27+ Mil. on them but, hey, I'm an arm chair GM. What do I know?

One more thing. The Sox said Cameron was in spring training with the hernia. So, like, when did it occur? Not to mention Scutaro's neck problems were never disclosed (as far as I know), until last week.

Maybe Dojji is right. Iglasias (sp - sorry VA) may be playing SS in Boston this season.

Once he comes off the DL!

Well, if they were going to call someone up early... I'd prefer it be the guy with the 850 OPS in the minors rather than the guy with the 500 OPS in the minors.

The sox are gonna hang 8 runs on Moyer. He always seems to be crushed by the Yanks and Sox IIRC

Called that one, well, should have said at least 8 runs. Moyer operates by hitting the corners then getting guys to chase off the corners. When you have batters who are disciplined, they wont chase off the corners, so he becomes neutralized
