The Yankees have a deal in place with Cito Culver. He has backed out of his Maryland scholarship. All that is waiting is for the kid to graduate HS and to take his physical. Expect him to sign on June 20th or shortly thereafter.

Wow!!! The 2015 All-Star team!!!

Too bad that by then none will be playing for the Yankees.

It's OK, giving up six of them plus 5mil will be worth it in August to have Griffey Jr for 8 weeks.

Yankees signed 3 today.

Taylor "Jake" Anderson, Tyler "Chris" Austin and Dustin Hobbs,

Anderson is a smooth swinging lefty HSer with a projectable frame and good speed

Austin is a large framed HSer with plus power and contact potential. They love his hit attribute

Hobbs sounds like an organizational arm. Soft throwing righty

Kennesaw State website is reporting that their commit, Travis Dean from Massachusetts, has signed a contract with the Yankees. He's a tall, hard throwing HSer with a lot of projection who dropped due to signability concerns. Once confirmed, he will be bolded. This one would be great to reign in

The Yankees inked 5th rounder Tommy Kahnle today. Angelo Gumbs took a physical but he said that he hasnt signed. And it sounds like there has been some movement with Segedin. Overall, the Yankees picked a ton of guys with signability issues. We still have 8 unsigned HS draftees selected in the top 20 rounds, and 3 college arms that are very difficult signs in Burawa, Jacob and Segedin. The reports I have been reading is that the Yankees arent gonna sign a lot of players from this draft, but will have an immense number of overslot signees.

My guess is that we are able to sign our top 9. I doubt we sign Viramontes or Jacob and am on the fence about Gamel. After that, who knows. The Yankees have a budget, and as the deadline approaches, they typically divvy it up and call unsiged guys with a last ditch effort. That's how they signed DeLuca last yr for 500K right before the deadline.

Regardless, I am thrilled with the draft the Yankees put together, especially after having almost 2 months to learn about some of these signability guys. Now I just hope we actually sign them. They really did follow the plan I thought they would after we drafted Culver. Culver was a slot sign and a slot pick. Most picks after that have not been

Hopefully Rutckyj is next. I heard Morton(along with a few other dudes are done) just waiting to announce it , must be waiting. Encinas was a must though.

I just heard Dean reached an agreement. He's a good guy to have. Morton, Gamel, Gumbs, Williams and it looks like Brugman will sign now too.
Posted
damn it's deze or something like that haha, I got confused. I heard it from a friend who has told me before. I believe him from past experiences like Evan DeLuca last year.

Segedin is taking his physical and it looks like an agreement might be on the way for around a bit less than 500K According to Lane Meyer on Scout.com/PP

Segedin has signed as has Daniel Burawa. Segedin is a power hitting righty considered to be one of the best college bats in the draft. He was a 3b in college, but probably profiles as a COFer in the Yanks system. Burawa is a big righty reliever out of st johns. He throws a mid 90s sinker with an overpowering slider. His problem remains location

power hitting? I heard he doesn't have too much power over at NYYFans. I thought he looked a bit like Matt Laporta body wise coming out of the draft.

Of the guys still remaining...

Mason Williams is expected to sign. Apparently, he wont even consider signing until tomorrow for summer league reasons. Speedy, great arm, plus contact, probably wont be more than a gap power guy

Travis Dean looks like he's gonna head to college

Evan Rutchkyj is a guy to watch. Rumors have abounded about the Yanks negotiating with him. He's tall, he's raw, but he's a hard throwing lefty with good tools. Would be a nice one to bring in

Kevin Jacob sounds like he's heading back to school

Kevin Jordan also sounds like he's going to school

Richard Hively hasnt been mentioned at all, so he's probably heading to school

Martin Viramontes, the hard throwing DES is in negotiations and might come down to the wire. Have heard rumors that he may have already agreed to a deal, but hasnt been confirmed

John Desze sounds like the apple of Oppenheimer's eye. Righty HSer with a hard fastball and two off speed offerings that look dynamite. Sounds like there is a very good chance we sign him before time is up

Stewart Ijames from Louisville is returning to school

As for the rest, I have heard nothing about them and am assuming we're letting them fly

Posted
Now that Morton, Gumbs and Gamel are in(kind of) I don't think we'll hear any other big names until the 16th. Williams and Desze will most likely be announced and probably Viramontes later in the day and then Evan Retchyj hopefully similar to Evan DeLuca, right at the deadline. Lots of talent coming in, you have to love it.

Yeah, I had wanted Austin Wilson in the 1st but if we can sign Williams and say Rutchkyj I'll be happy. Just wish we would take a chance on Jordan, was very excited for him.
