Philly's got one of the most potent offenses in the Majors. Only the Yankees' date=' Rays and Twins have offenses that are clearly better than the Phillies'. Dice-K has sucked tonight, but don't diminish his accomplishment last week.[/quote']

 I know, I'm just joking. However, I'm sure having a pitcher in the 9 hole helped, plus the Philies were struggling offensively when we came into town.

KC has a much worse lineup. They have a couple of pitchers spread through the lineup. :harhar:

I'm French ' date=' so sorry if my grammar sucks[/quote']

I feel like your "sorry" wasn't heartfelt... No need apologizing, I'm just trying to find ways to have some fun while ignoring the s*** fest on my TV.

It's not any worse than what I hear on a daily basis.

I think that's part of my problem. All the "short hand", "lazy", "Gangster", "Urban" language has really started to piss me off. I'm no longer shy to point out to a stranger that they have said "like" 500 times in the last 2 minutes.

Don't like it in English. Like it less in Spanish. However the ESL crowd should always get a free pass. It's not easy to dominate a foreign language. I can tell you that from experience.

Yeah, I understand. I took Latin in school because I wasn't comfortable speaking and communicating in a different language. Then again, the fact that I never bothered to actually LEARN anything other than Latin might be a large part of the reason...

8 walks, wow. Daisuke really didn't have anything today. I think we're danged lucky it was the Royals and we're still in this thing.

Have to say I'm a little disappointed in my fellow fans. Sure, the guy was struggling, but did we have to get some of this semi-racist stuff that was going on from certain of us? He was struggling because he was not locating the fastball, not because he was Japanese.

You're dissapointed in some of your fellow fans. Don't generalize.

Fair enough, but my point still stands. Some of us should be ashamed of ourselves for what we said, the others should be ashamed for not calling them on it while the heat was up. That's one proud Boston tradition I don't want to rekindle.

Name 1 Japanese pitcher who had a successful CAREER. He was supposed to be an Ace, we paid him to be an Ace, and he's pitched like ass. I think the racists comments are just for fun and because we hate the Japanese posting system. They practically stole $50 million from the Red Sox.

Anyways, can you honestly say you wouldn't ever call Randy Johnson a redneck hick?

As for racism in generally, I really feel like we live in a time that is tolerant and accepting (or should, at least). It's hard saying racist comments in jest on a forum, I'll admit. I'm just from a very cultured background so I feel comfortable about talking/joking about race stereotypes. My sister's ex was a very racist Floridian and when I first heard him say a racist remark I was shocked. Not because of WHAT he said, but HOW he said it and how he intended it.

It's a GT, people say stuff in "The heat of battle". For me, words are empty without intent, because frustration has a voice of its own.

Side note: Awful fielding by Hermida.

Side note number two: Hall has looked really good in CF tonight.

Don't the Royals have the highest team BA in the AL?

Dude, there are no words.

There are just no words.

You want a Japanese pitcher with a successful US career, I'll throw two at you,. Aki Otsuka and Takashi Saito. If you want a starter, go look at Hiroki Kuroda.

Daisuke is struggling because of fastball command -- which was a known issue when he came over -- and because of wear and tear on his shoulder, another known issue.

And no, the posting system didn't "steal" $50M from us, way to project the blame. We took a calculated risk, and this is gonna shock you, but I think it paid off and would do it again. Daisuke's first year helped lead us to a World Series championship, teams have spent a lot more than $50M pursuing that particular dream.

I still think Dice - K is a useless, lazy, dishonorable, lying sack of s***.

That is my opinion of him and it is not likely to change.

Remember Pearl Harbor!;):D

Come on, you should know better than taking me so seriously. Anyways, I should have clarified. We didn't get dice-k to have an average career, we expect him to be an Ace. As for Otsuka, he was average at best (yes, you are right, successful). Saito is pretty much the only Japanese pitcher to have sustained dominance (albeit 4 years so far). Kuroda isn't even in the majors yet, so I don't know why you are bringing him up.

Anyways, DiceK was billed as having great command when we picked him up. And of course I went overboard with saying they stole $50 million, but it's a STUPID requirement nonetheless and IS still a waste of money right now.

While the AL is is better than the NL West, it's still the majors, Kuroka has arrived.....3 years ago.

Yeah, you're right, I miss read that. 3 years with the Dodgers, 3.63 ERA, 1.2 Whip, 3.05 K/BB. Not bad, but not impressive either. But again, I never said impressive, I said successful, which was an overstatement.
