What I've never really understood about that is how do you demolish old Fenway and build the new stadium in one off-season? And if you don't, where would the Sox play in the meantime?

According to the site with that plan, the Sox would continue to play at Fenway and then after the new stadium was ready they'd demolish most of Fenway leaving that part shown in the picture.

I don't know if that parcel is viable anymore given the Trilogy development next door and future plans for the area. That plot of land is one of the last areas in Boston ripe for development and I think there are big plans for it.

If and when they tear down Fenway (hopefully much later rather than sooner) they should move the park to the South Boston waterfront and use it as an excuse to improve public transit to the area and spur development.

I can't wait until the Sox start playing home games at "Fidelity Park". Fans will turn on the TV and not know if they're watching a game in St Louis or Denver or Milwaukee or Atlanta.

The picture imaged is from like 15 years ago when the team was owned by a different people. I don't think that idea would ever happen

Clearly no idea involving blowing up Fenway is going to happen, unless the organization is making all these little improvements for a one or two year fix. But someone asked where you could put a new Fenway in the Fens area and that's how.

The problem is that the area of land behind Fenway would cost a fortune and that's if they'd even sell the land. I just hate the idea of a new Fenway. What they need to do is get rid of Yawkee way and build a better/larger grandstand. They could easily fit 5-10K more seats that way and make it look more modern without killing it.
