People have talked about him losing velocity, but he was hitting atleast 97 yesterday. I don't think he's lost his value, and there is no question he's still an elite closer, and one of the best two or three.

 

Throw this one into the rumor mill, but Minnesota could be a strong target. Papelbon for Nathan + prospects seem reasonable, since the Sox's season may be dead, and the Twins look very strong without a real closer.

The Sox will have no interest in Nathan. Wilson Ramos would most likely have to be part of any deal with the Twinkies.

Nathan has been a top closer. TJS is better than it used to be, and he's only got 2011 left on his contract-- just enough time for Bard to get in closer shape. I don't see any other team that will be desperate enough for a good closer, has an unused piece that Bos wants (Ramos) and is willing to pay. Texas is a possibility, but I would be surprised if they make a big deal with them any time soon.
