Get off your throne of lies.

I had similar feelings about the subject as well. I wouldn't have shed any tears if he was in Boston. But the best case scenario IMO was for him to remain in Minnesota.

Here were the five options for Joe Mauer, in order of my personal preference:

1. He signs with Boston.

2. He stays with Minny.

3. He retires to write a book about sideburns at his shack in the woods.

4. He signs somewhere else.

5. He signs with the Yankees.

Anyone differing with #1 (besides Yankee fans of course) isn't really being honest, regardless of how much they care about the health of the game. No Boston fans were crying when Pedro came here from Montreal.

Get off your throne of lies.

Whatever dude.

I never said I woudn't like the addition of Joe Mauer's talent to my team, but all things considered, especially money, my preference all along has been for him to STAY in Minnesota, giving us the chance to further develop some of these great catchers we have in our system. I don't see why that's so hard to believe.

It's so hard to believe because even if Montero is the catcher for the next 10 years, Mauer becomes a hell of a backup catcher/DH.

Furthermore, even if you did believe that....

It's better for the game overall this way as well.

....then you'd have to have been against the Yankees signing Sabathia, Teixeira and Burnett in the same off-season.

I don't care what anyone says. Joe Mauer a Twin for 8 more years? f*** that. I was hoping he'd be a Yankee, Met, Red Sox, Dodger, Angels, Cub, etc.
