  1. 1. Who was the better RF over their tine in Boston?

    • Drew -- His good numbers and professionalism make him clearly better
      11
    • Nixon -- his heart and grit, and superior RBI numbers, carry the day

    • They played at about the same level while they were here.

Honest question:

Do you know what BABIP is, how it works, and how its fluctuation affects hitter performance?

Honest question number two:

Do you see significant value in batting average?

Honest question number three:

Is there no merit to the fact that even though Drew had a BABIP under .220 with RISP and Bay had a .412 BABIP in the same situation, the actual difference in RBI% was less than 6?

Oh well.

The guy could play 170 games, hit 200 HR's and Bat in 400, and the bashers would still find reason to bitch.

I don't bash him now, but I would buy an authentic Drew jersey if he put up those numbers.:D

I just think the RBI argument is legitimately ignorant. And it gets brought up every chance. RBI's a chance statistic, so using it as the cornerstone of an argument is asinine.

1. Batting Average on Ball is Play is one of those sabermetric stats that can be used to make any s***** player look good. 2. Batting average on the whole isn't a great gauge, but when there is runners in scoring position, you need to drive those guys in, and since Drew is supposedly our best hitter besides Youk going into next year, he needs to drive some guys in and produce more. The guy has always had a great OBP, but he isn't one of the teams best hitters. I guess he's 4th. 3. JD Drew is not a better power threat than Jason Bay

1) That means you don't know what it is. Please research what it actually means.

2) That is semi-correct.

3) Massive strawman. No one has ever said Drew is a better power threat than Bay. What has been said (and stand by it) is that the "Drew can't drive runs in" argument is ridiculous.

Francona's reasoning for that was "To lengthen the lineup". Pretty dumb IMO, but i'm a couch manager, so what do i know.
