seem to forget about Kotchman and with how little his name has been brought up it appears to be the same with everyone else.

Is it because it's hard to get any kind of handle on how they'll utilize him.

Kotchman made $2.85M this past year and he's arbitration eligible for two more years, meaning that just about any team could afford him.

Kotchman is noted to be an excellant defensive firstbase, I still don't know what defensive numbers to trust if anyone has suggestions I'll listen, or if you'd like to add that to the mix please do so. He'll be 27 years old for all of next season and bats & throws lefty.

He's a career .269 AVG, 337 OBP, .406 SLG%, .742 OPS. The last three years he's at .279, 346, .421, .766

Most similiar by age 24 is Dave Ortiz, what???, most similar batters thru age 25 include Mo Vaughn, Nick Johnson and Dave Ortiz.

He's appears to be the pre 2004 type signing/trade, Bill Muellar, Dave Ortiz, Mark Bellhorn. I think he has a good chance to see his career take off if he's ever given that chance.

What role does he have for this team in 2010?

A Bench

B Traded

C Ends up the firstbasemen with Youks at third because Lowell is trade or becomes the DH.

I personally feel that way too, I was just saying that I have a feeling if he got playing time, he could end up being like Bill Mueller or David Ortiz (not to that extent) but his career could take off into bigger and better things. I wish Kotchman played more than just one position so he could have more utility. How many bench guys could he Sox carry in theory? You already have Tek, Lowell (if the Sox make a move), Lowrie, Green, Kotchman, Hermida. I really think he'll just end up being traded
