You've never heard someone refer to a football' date=' hockey, or basketball season like that? You know what I mean.[/quote']

It depends on how you look at it. For the 2007-08 regular season, hell yeah, Patriots were the best team, and they should have won the Super Bowl, they were far superior to the Giants, but they didn't. Actually, the Giants played all around better football during the course of the playoffs, and beat them. To this day, I don't understand how a team that built could lose. People won't consider the 2007-08 Patriots the greatest team in football history, but they sure as hell were the most overpowering, and easily the most talented team in football history. I actually jokingly made a 16-0 prediction after they got Moss and Stallworth (Who was pretty good at the time, before his DUI).

Yeah, I understand. And I know you don't fit into this category, but I just don't like when people say the champion is the best team.

For what it's worth, I'm a big Giants fan. I still tell everyone that the Patriots were by far the superior team, and if they play that game nine more times, the Pats probably win each time.

If you know what i meant, why the aclaration?

I specified that some teams are better suited to beat team X than team Y, and it doesn't matter which team is "The Best" specially in the playoffs.

I'm really sorry if i hurt your Yankee pride man.

For the 2007-08 regular season, the Patriots were the best team, but they struggled in the playoffs, and the Giants beat them in the Super Bowl, and were probably the best, most complete football team during the 2008 regular season.[/quote']

Eh, in my opinion the best team won the Super Bowl last year. Also, I don't think the Giants level of play in the playoffs was superior to the Patriots. The Patriots outplayed Jacksonville, and played two pretty even games against San Diego and the Giants. The Giants outplayed the Bucs and Packers, but they were really outplayed by the Cowboys. The Giants had a lot of things go their way in the Super Bowl (mainly on the final drive). The Giants completely deserved it, but the best team that year, no matter how you slice it, is the Pats. Not to mention I would take the 2007/08 Patriots over any team in the history of football (especially if Colvin is healthy).

Anyway, obviously this got way off topic, which was my fault.

I don't think the Yankees are clearly the best team this year...

Forget it, mistake on my part.

The Patriots only outscored the Jags in the 3rd Quarter, otherwise it was an even ballgame the entire way through, and they played even games with both the Giants and the Chargers, like you said. I just thought I'd clear that up. Read my above post, it elaborates a bit more on what I was saying.
