I didn't really care about him getting the win, but a solid outing would have definitely been nice. However, I don't relate tonight's start to what might happen in the postseason. Remember, CC pitched a spectacular game on short rest in his last start in 2008 (with a higher innings total), and then pitched poorly in his one postseason start. Two bad postseasons starts, and a few mediocre ones don't concern me for what it's worth.[/quote']

 

I know last season he was dealing with fatigue because of how much he was pitching on short rest, but I was referring mostly to his overall post season numbers. A 7.92 ERA is a bit disconcerting.

I'm not a believer in past postseasons effecting future postseasons. You're talking about an incredibly small sample size. CC might pitch poorly in the postseason, but it's not going to have anything to do with the last two years.

 

Barry Bonds was also a poor postseason performer for much of his career...

True, but there are players who are known for their post season success, or lack thereof. Look at Beckett compared to A-Rod, for example. I agree it's a small sample size. It's impossible to predict how a player will do in the playoffs, no doubt, but there are those guys who excel and there are those guys who don't.
