I don't see whats the big deal, so what? Mauer supposedly "stole" signs. Its not cheating in anyway, it seems like the media is making this seem like a big deal. If Mauer really did steal signs, smart move for him to find a slight advantage.

Exactly, and I'm pretty sure this is being built up in case of Twins winning the division, there would be some sort of controversy. Really, there's no big deal, and like you say: He found something to take advantage of, and he did.

It's pretty stupid of the author to use Bobby Thompson's home run as an example of sign stealing. What the Twins may or may not be doing is very different than what the Giants might have been doing. It's been alleged that the Giants were using a telescope from center field to steal signs. That is very different than what the Twins are doing.

I don't see a problem with this. I stole signs from 2nd in high school ball. I also picked up on the signed the 3rd base coach was giving for such things as bunt, steal, take, etc. I see no problem with either one.
