September 1st Call-Ups

WEEI reporting that Joey Gathright and Brian Anderson have been called up. George Kottaras is expected to be called up as he comes off the disabled list as is Junichi Tazawa as the GCL season has ended. Post any other expanded roster call-ups here.

Gathright, Tazawa among five recalled

The Red Sox added five players to their active roster this afternoon, the first day that rosters can be expanded for September.

 

The club activated catcher George Kottaras from the 15-day disabled list, recalled outfielders Joey Gathright and Brian Anderson and infielder Chris Woodward from Triple A Pawtucket, and brought up righthanded pitcher Junichi Tazawa from the Gulf Coast League Red Sox.

 

All five players will be in uniform for tonight’s game at Tampa Bay.

 

Also, the Red Sox designated first baseman/outfielder Jeff Bailey for assignment......

Ya I know. I was hoping for Wagner over Kottraras. But I guess he will get a shot next spring maybe.
