You want a Dojji type to keep an eye on, here's one of the better ones in the Sox system, AA year old Portland reliever Dustin Richardson.

Richardson was a starter last year and started out well but fell apart as the season went on. he maintained good strikeout numbers despite his struggles (114 K's in 104 IP) so clearly the stuff was still good, but Richardson was clearly not going to hack it as a starter.

So they moved him to the bullpen for this year, and so far the returns have been good. Richardson has been channeling Dan Bard from last year with his numbers, both the good (about 12 strikeouts per 9 innings) and the bad (5.8bb/9).

He's on the older side at 25, and his fastball is more deceptive than it is powerful according to the Soxprospects scouting report, but he seems to harness his stuff well and may have a future as a matchup lefty, especially if he can harness his command juuuuust a bit better. Since the Sox currently have only Oki for lefthanders in their pen, and only Jones and Lopez (and their reverse splits) in Pawtucket, that's a niche Richardson might be the one to fill down the road sometime.

Of course you dod.

I've been kinda figuring that's the way it actually worked with you guys for awhile, but I didn't quite want to believe it. Guess I was holding out for a little more honesty. Really I should have known better than to hope for such a thing.

35 BB's

AA X 2

25 years old

Probably the most telling stats of Dustin Richardson.

Yes, yes. congratulations. You've figured out why he's in the Dojjiverse rather than being a top prospect.

What did you seem me call him? A potentially decent matchup lefty or LOOGY isn't too much of a stretch for an older LHRP with a high K/9 even if he's a bit wild.

He repeated AA because he was converted to the bullpen. C'mon, man, no one here is saying he's the next Billy Wagner. But he still has a pretty good shot at big league time in some form as a lefty with a high k/9, even you can be man enough to admit that. Or am I wrong?

By golly, you're right!

Silly me, the majors are only for greata command pitchers like J. C. Romero.

J.C. Romero sucks, and he never had the control problems as a 25 year old that Dustin Richardson is showing.

No, Crespo, I long since gave up on you. A guy could be the second coming, and if I hyped him you'd find a way to tell me he sucked. Other people do read the thread though.

That's not possible, because you only hype guys who suck ass. You even call it "Dojjiverse," and laud yourself for taking on such extreme positions. You are a failed contrarian.
