You don't think they will baby Buchholz by putting him on a strict pitch count. I think they will, and he'll be our Joba.

I say get Halladay and pitch him at least 8 innings every start for the next year and a half. Hopefully it will payoff in some World Championships. Then let him take his worn out 33/34 year old arm to free agency.

I agree with you. I think the Sox will baby Buchholz, they did it the other night.

I think that's the right move anyway. The guy is still a young pitcher and he... has shown that he can be ratled. Until he gets past that, going carefully makes sense. They babied Lester as well.

They were going easy on Lester in 2006.

Take a look at buchholz last year and tell me the Sox shouldn't mind how they handle him.

The trouble with pitchers like Wake or Penny is you need to score a lot of runs to win. And the Sox aren't scoring on the road, so it's tough to win on the road with those type of pitchers. I won't put Smoltz in that category yet.

Buchholz has the potential to be a high rotation starter like Beckett and Lester, and needs the chance. He showed that in Toronto.

I saw something on realGM about Adrian Gonzales coming to Boston--no sources. Then I see something this morning in the Globe? that says the Sox won't trade Buchholz unless it's for a "premier young hitter." mmm...
