ONE issue. There also exists the issue of Saunders being a back-end rotation pitcher and Bourjos who's an interesting piece but not necessarily an elite prospect by any stretch of the imagination.

Saunders is a #3 at his best, that is true. But again, Toronto has no leverage whatsoever. Aybar is a very good SS, Saunders is a decent pitcher, and Bourjos is an interesting prospect, i don't think anyone's beating that package for a season of Halladay.

Absolutely.

A 16 game winner and a .312 speedy SS ready to play and under control for three years at short money. I know nothing about Bourjos. But he could be good eventually.

Sounds like a good deal to me.

I don't see why Toronto would want MLB players back that are due arb soon.

Saunders is a #3 meh

Aybar is a solid SS and the center piece of the package. But the just signed Agon, and I get the feeling they want a young cost controlled SS prospect.

Mark Feinsand of The NY Daily News spoke to a source who said "Don't rule out them including Cole Hamels" in a potential Halladay deal.

Easily the best deal I've heard for Halladay so far.

Risky move for the Phillies, but I guess if they sign Lee and Halladay to extensions it would be ok. The Phillies with that 1-2 punch would be NL favorites for the next 3-4 years.

I'd like to see the Phillies get Halladay. I wonder if the Jays would prefer Happ over Hamels. Hamels has a bigger salary, and didn't earn it last year. If Hamels had pitched in the playoffs like the year before, the Phillies might have beaten the Yankees--though Manual was foolish to pitch Pedro in Yankee Stadium when he had a lefty available in Happ.

I don't see the Red Sox in the picture at all for Halladay. Epstein had trouble trading Moss and Hansen for Bay! He will never part with Buchholz. You just hope the Jays will have the good sense to deal him out of the Division. If the Yankees get him, they might win 120 games.

They might like Happ more. But I bet they could spin Hamels off somewhere else for a good return. But if Toronto takes Happ, the Phillies walk to the NL Championship with that 1-3.

I'm not all that familiar with the Phillies farm system but is it a foregone conclusion that the Jays would need either Happ or Hamels?

Met fans will abandon their team in protest.

If they have stuck through 2 choke jobs in September to cost them playoff spots, and a terrible season mixed in last year, all with in the last 3 years mind you, the Mets fans won't jump off the ship now haha:)

There is real unrest among the Mets most loyal fans. One of my best friends and an insane Met fan and season ticket holder for 30 years apologized to me yesterday, because he said that the Mets have made him so crazy that he is not even allowing himself to hope that they will get Roy Halladay, because he knows that it will not happen. He is clinging to the hope that the hated Yankees will get him so he doesn't go to the Phillies. He despises the Yankees, but he said that if the Phillies get Halladay to go along with Lee, they will wipe the floor with the Mets for years to come.

Well I was just browsing Twitter for the keyword Halladay, and there seems to be a rumor going around that he's apparently booked for a physical here in Philly.

It's probably bunk, considering rumors spread like wildfire on the site. Zach Braff is dead!

CSN's Jim Salisbury reports today that the Phillies are "actively talking" about a contract extension with Roy Halladay's agent, according to two baseball sources. One of those sources told Salisbury Doc is likely to take a physical with the Phillies this week. The Philadelphia Inquirer's Andy Martino adds that Halladay and his agent have checked into a Philadelphia-area hotel.

The Mets have to compete with the Yankees as well in NY, and it isn't easy. They got Santana for peanuts, and it still hasn't helped them much, because they have a bunch of older, expensive FAs who get hurt too easily. Wagner, Delgado, etc. And they don't have any pitching depth. Their farm system is depleted and not helping much. They haven't been a well run organization with Phillips and Minaya. And now their owner is involved in the Madoff scandal.

Giving expensive FAs over 30 long term contracts just to outbid everybody has been a problem in NY--for the Mets and the Yankees. I think the Yankees will have trouble with Sabathia in a few years--I don't see him lasting above 35. And Burnett is a bit overrated.

Both teams need to develop younger players. I think the Yankees will regret trading Austin Jackson. Have seen him play.

The Phillies are in agreement on a three-team trade with the Mariners and Blue Jays to acquire star pitcher Roy Halladay, SI.com has learned.

Sources say Halladay will agree to a contract extension to complete the deal.

The Mariners would wind up with Cliff Lee in the deal.
