Calling the Lugo error with men on scoring position right now.

Please have a little faith in your countryman. I don't. But you can!

Smoltz better hope all his ground balls go to third base' date=' or he's screwed.[/quote']

Come on. You know way too much about the game to be so pessimistic.

I was just kidding. Bates at first, Green at second and Lugo at short is a comically bad infield defense compared to what we usually put out there.

Our lineup is pieced together today, but I still like our chances. We've got John Smoltz against some A's pitching with an ERA in the mid 5's.

I'm considering starting a thread about the time I almost ran Nomah down with my car. What do you think? Would anyone be interested in hearing my story?

I'd like to hear it! lol

I loved Nomar. He's the reason I grew sideburns in high school and I've had them ever since.

Wholly s***! Nomars ovation was GREAT!!! Props to Bosox fans.

I hope Jacko sees that. He went on a rant last night about how Boston runs players out of town when they don't want to pay them anymore and the team and fans all gang up against them.

That was awesome. I honestly thought Nomar was going to breakdown and cry at the plate. Props to the fans for a class act.

And he apparently had "inside info" about the way the FO hands the media tidbits about the player's personal and playing problems.

But hey, it's Jacko, so the info has to be legit. Amirite?

Yeah, that kind of stuff makes me proud to be a Red Sox fan. I was in Boston this weekend and I was absolutely blown away by how much support the team has there. I want to say about 1 in every 5 people I saw walking around the city was wearing some kind of Red Sox related apparel. Even drug stores had Red Sox hat and shirt displays in their windows, it was incredible. I've been to plenty of cities, and I've never seen a city that cared about their baseball team nearly as much.

Eck made a comment about how he could not understand how Nomar made contact under the circumstances. Can you imagine Nomar's emotions?

Yeah, he's on his own planet. Somehow when stuff about Damon's marriage issues comes out, it's a Red Sox conspiracy to run him out of town. But when stuff about A-Rod's marriage issues comes out, it's just the tabloids.

Since 2004, of course.

I'd like to think it began in 2003 when the team got new ownership. That's when the consecutive sell out record began. But I've never lived in Boston so I can't really say.

Smoltz getting squeezed pretty badly.

It doesn't look like it to me.

The pink hats are not going away. And, there are way more "Pink Hat" fans than the ones that actually wear the pink hats. They are a product of the huge expense of being a Sox fan that attends games at Fenway.

The same gentrification has taken place in Foxboro. "Common Folk" just can't afford to attend games.
