I think Olsen is in his arbitration year so it was expected he'd be dealt.

Willingham is a nice pickup for Washington. I remember when we thought he might be involved in the Manny deal.

I see Olsen blowing up in the Nat's hands, his velocity was down last year, and he gave up bombs at a Milton rate in the savannah that the Marlins play in.

In that new, more neutral ballpark, i see him giving up more than 30 bombs easy.....

But that's just my humble opinion.

That could happen, but when you consider who the Nats were throwing out there all the time last year it's not so bad. Their pitching rotation and depth was bottom of the barrell. Olsen isn't great, but he's serviceable and I think will do a fairly decent job for them.

Willingham will probably hit a few more HR's now that he's out of that abyss of a ballpark.

Good point, Nats's pitching was like the Padres's hitting last year......lessons in futility, but i do see Willingham hitting 25+ homers now that he's out of "Hitter's Nightmare" stadium.

Good trade for the Nats, the Marlins sold low in this trade. I was hearing that Olsen couldve been used in a trade with Texas for Max Ramirez... now he's coupled with Willingham for Emilio (who wil be the backup infielder) and couple of eh prospects?

Kevin Gregg is a good bet to be the next one gone from Florida

$$$$$, He will be the face of the franchise. They will spend money when they get the new stadium. If not they will trade him too.

he'll be 30 when the contract expires and he will only have sacrificed like what? 2 years of eligible free agency? a 6-year, $70 million deal is probably better than arbitration every year. thats the only logic I can see, he'd be the face of the franchise almost anywhere else he want

Ya I agree with you. I was just throwing crap out there because I don't see why he id it either.

We can always hope Florida bottoms outs, and he becomes available:thumbsup:

I guess he makes for a hell of a trade chip too considering he only makes ridiculously reasonable $11.6 mil a year

I can't even begin to fathom what it would cost for him. 6 top prospects? More? LOL

Considering his age and talent, he might bring in the most talent from another team then any other player in the league.

The only thing that prevents him from being probably the best player in baseball is his questionable defensive ability
