Curt Schilling should not criticize the way his peers do their jobs' date=' when he can't do his own.[/quote']

so he cant criticize anyone for assaulting team employees, faking injuries and being a general ******* just cause his shoulder is frayed?

and Gom, when Manny negotiated the deal way back in 2000, he wanted those 2 options put in so he could say he was the game's second $200 million man, and now when it came time for those options to come in play, he pulls off a primadonna act basically refusing to behave and play unless the team dropped them so he could become a free agent and its the front office's fault?! do you realize what type of precedent this would have set? hell, it already set a horrible precedent in the fact that Manny got what he wanted, he was traded to a team who dropped his options

Not when he already did it two months ago and if rehashing the comments aren't productive to the 2008 Red Sox cause.

Yeah' date=' everyone gets pissed at Schilling for talking bad about another athelete (who really deserves it anyway), yet no one even gives a flying f*** about Josh Howard's disrespect of the National Anthem. No we don't care about that.[/quote']

It's not national news. The media is ripping him in Texas.

schilling shouldve been muzzled after his efforts in getting corkey bush reelected.

that shows how fuking ignorant the man is when he plainly said GWs 2nd term meant more than the world series...Mnny been gone 2 months the team is fighting for the division and he still cant shut the f*** up..

manny owes boston nothing and we owe him nothing.

140M later our owners fulfilled their obligations and manny certainly did his part with the stick

let it go

i miss him terribly but he had to go

we knew hed do this in l.a.....hes a goofy prick and selfish to boot but if he were a yankee for 8 years hed still be playing there now and on the cust of a 3yr 60m deal...we had the cards but f***ed up the hand and hes gone and we're paying the tab for him to be an mvp candidate in l.a.

look at the guys around hin flourish...the best right handed hitter ive ever seen my friends.

schilling shut the f*** up

we're all over it and its time to fous on october and repeating.

nice series win in toronto against 2 studs...we're peaking and we got a shot at the division.

party on

Manny played himself outta Boston, IMO. This organization put up with a lot of BS because the man could hit...then he essentially threatened to derail the 2008 campaign. Manny played poker with house money, indifferent to the impact on his teammates, the fans and the organization. The FO did little to screw up this hand...Manny took care of that.

Now don't get me wrong, I loved watching this guy hit, he was amazing and like you, probably represents the best RH hitter I've seen. Of course there are those who'd say he has equals in Aaron, Foxx, Mays, and DiMaggio.

Thats the class of ballplayer he is in...foxx mays dimaggio etc..

i saw willie at the end but lets not go there, the other guys were playing before tv and before my parents were born.

as i said

if he had those #s in yankee stadium hed be working there still.

lest we not forget this management teams 1st act of business when they purchased the team was to waive this guy...if i didnt forget this act of disrespect or as we like to say""savy business move""i assume he didnt either and he can point at his behavior and justify to himself that it was ""savy business"" to be a f***head....no one outside boston remembers his behavior now, they only know he single handedly took that god awful franchise in losangeles from 4 out to 2 up with derek lowe as their ace....See Kent and Ethiers #s since the trade?

Its been said before.

Why does everyone who leaves boston leave under horrible circumstances with the bridges burnt forever?...

From Lowe to Nomar to Mo Vaughn to Fisk to Keith Foulke to Burleson and Lynn....

the guys who leave here leave here pissed off.

As a hitter he's in that company.

While the Sox have a history of guys leaving on bad terms, and that has always bothered me, in Manny's case I'm not so upset, as he was disgruntled at some point in practically every season he was with the Sox. As such I think he falls into a slightly different caregory of disgruntled employee. An ending like this was inevitable, Manny ensured that.

He certainly is hitting the s*** outta the ball now for LA, good pickup for them, good for Manny, and not bad for the Sox since LA Manny is likely way better than Boston Manny woulda been.

Now back to Schilling, I have little issue with his comments...I'm generally a proponent of keeping one's mouth shut but he doesn't speak for the team, he doesn't speak for the FO, and the active Sox roster is hopefully wise enough to realize whatever he says now about Manny means absolutely nothing to the team's success. Schill is Schill and he's gonna flap his gums about something no matter what, this time it happened to be about Manny.

They have a public mouthpiece here called the media.

every off season i would hear manny wanted out, manny wanted to be traded, manny was unhappy.

until he spoke with his own words.

cause every time he spoke his words were completely different from what i was reading or hearing in the media..

until this summer

he came into camp in shape, ready to go and coming up on his option years.

as i said earlier if he were in nyc we wouldnt be having this conversation, they wouldve given him brooklyn right wrong or indifferent....we have a different mindset in boston when it comes to big money guys.

Now former players seem to echo much of the media's claims. Maybe they're on the paper's payroll too, or they're blindly supporting Schill or the organization or maybe they're actually confirming what the media said...don't know.

I also don't know if Manny would have been happy in the Bronx, or whether the Yankees would have accepted his antics, or if he'd have put up the same numbers, or etc, etc, etc

It's all conjecture at this point, there is no way to know how things would have played out if he were there, or in the Queens or with the Angels or anywhere else. What we do know is Manny had an opportunity to do here, in Boston, exactly what he's doing with LA but chose not to for his own reasons. I don't begrudge him...but at the same time I can't fault the FO for the outcome.

OK, in retrospect, Schilling should shut the f*** up so we're not talking about this, we're enjoying Bay and the Sox here and still enjoying watching Manny in La when we can...that's a more pleasant scenario.
