Very fortunate to win yesterday. Now we have two pitching matchups in the final two games that IMO are pretty favorable.

Funny you mention that. Living here 300 miles from NYC, but still in their home market , I get all Yankme home games and the Kay and his announcer pals were in their usual form. In the pre-game BS talk, Kay stated that the Yankees cleary had favorable pitching matchups in each of the three games. I almost fell out of my chair.

I'll give the nod to Petitte over Wake (even though that worked out), but in no way is Ponson or Mussina better than Byrd and Lester repectively. I don't know if it was just homerism or he just doesn't know WTF he is talking about.

That being said, nothing is really more enjoyable watching the Yanks puke all over themselves while listening to Kay and his merry bunch.

going into the game, the pitching matchup definitely wasnt in our favor but to say we were fortunate to win yesterday isn't accurate. the team definitely brought their "A" game to the stadium yesterday

That's not what I meant. I thought yesterday's game would be a blowout going in (Wakefield against Pettitte? come on), and we're fortunate that we got the one game in this series I thought for sure we'd lose. I wasn't really referring to the game itself and how it was played.

I agree then. I said yesterday I expected to win 2/3 with last night being the loss and I was gladly proven wrong.

I love all the Wakefield haters. He has been better than Pettitte this year.

5.14 career ERA vs. the Yankees and a 6.48 ERA against that team this season. That's why, on paper, it was a bad pitching matchup last night going into the game

I dont think anyone can argue that, on the whole, Wakefield has been fantastic this year
