f the departure of Manny Ramirez [stats] didn’t have him worried enough, David Ortiz [stats] sufficiently tweaked his ailing left wrist in the ninth inning of last night’s 4-3 loss to the Royals, prompting additional concern.

No matter how slight.

With the Red Sox [team stats] trailing 4-2, Ortiz grounded out against Kansas City closer Joakim Soria with a pair of men on base at Kauffman Stadium. Ortiz revealed after the game he felt a click in his left wrist early in the at-bat against Soria, choosing his words carefully in describing the sensation.

“My last at-bat, it kind of pulled back a little bit,” Ortiz said of his wrist. “You feel that click and you get a little concerned about it.”

Big man syndrome. I thought they didnt fix the wrist? I thought they said surgery wasnt indicated? Did they just scope it and not fix it?

Here's the deal, Big Papi is an elite player. But his body type will keep him out of a lot of games in the future. It is his wrist right now, but those barking knees will only get worse.

I read somewhere that trainers told him he'd feel clicking in the wrist from time to time and it really depends on how much of it he can take

Unless he's out of the line up tonight the best that can be done for now is just to see how he plays tonight. If he looks like he's in pain I doubt he's gonna play much longer this season.

Plan, Contigency. The time to sign Bonds, get him up to speed, and on the roster before Sept 1 (thus making him eligible for the playoff roster - assuming no 60-day DL stint for Ortiz) is now. There's just enough time to get him ready. If they don't, and one week from now Ortiz is done for the season, well, so is the season, pretty much. Bonds would be one hell of a contigency plan.

If Ortiz doesn't get hurt, he can play LF, move Bay to RF, have Drew play CF. Not the ideal defensive OF, but it'll create a few runs.

I'm 100% against signing Barry Bonds. He is my least favorite baseball player and in the top 3 on my list of least favorite non-genocide inducing human beings of all time.

why wouldnt you want barry bonds?

youre not dating him

he isnt coming over for dinner and we need left handed power desperately and i mean desperately.

he cheated,hes an *******,hes a prick,etc..

unless you have a bumper sticker that says ""mean people suck"" then it behooves me as to why the best ball player ever wouldnt be welcome.

they all cheated or most did anyways.

if ethics won baseball games then babe ruth ty cobb reggie jackson ,petey, pettite and so many others would remain ringless and roger clemens would be getting ass raped in prison.

sure

give carter a shot at dh

but if ortiz is out and that remains to be seen, then theres nothing i personally would like more than bb to hit here for 1 final season, 10 more weeks if you will.

he said he would never play here, make him prove it.

what if he had a shot at 1 more post season in the limelight?

money would be minimum and you'd see how fast 38,000 people can get behind someone they hated so long as he hits....plus think of the hatchet job that steve buckley and bozo shaugnessy could perform on him?...the media would love it,the fans would love it(believe me on this) and the results can only be positive i feel...

Because I've spent the last couple years hating him and I'd rather not have my team affinity turn me into a hypocrite.

I don't know how to word it, but there's something about Damon being in a NY uniform and liking him having to do with that.
