Unknown if it is a cramp, twinge, pull, tear or what have you. But he threw like s*** today and then pointed to his shoulder when he was pulled. If he is out for an extended period of time, we are done

If he is out for an extended period of time, we are done[/quote']Evenif it is just a cramp, they have to be very very cautious with him. He is there most valuable pitching property. The team is probably going nowhere this year. It would be stupid to rush him back and take the risk with his health. The Mets will not even risk rushing John Maine back to the rotation and he is not the Mets top pitching property.

With Joba, Moose and Pettitte leading a rotation and a healthy Hughes and Wang, we'd have a damn formidable rotation for the playoffs. But with Wang and Joba in question, this rotation tumbles. Here's how this will play out.

The Yankees will be smart and rest Joba immediately. He'll be placed on the DL, MRI'd (which will likely show nothing) and then will be allowed to throw. After a few pen sessions and a rehab start, he'll be pitching again in Sept. Very cautious, but the right thing to do.

If this doesnt prompt the yankees to make a serious run at Sabathia, I dont know what will.

ya mussina is real scary phil hughes hasnt won yet petittw is a 3 and wangs out while chamberlain reached for his shoulder about 5 seconds after young took him opposite field deep ala raja clemens

y'all dump farnswoth and the savior, marte has gotten lit up his last 2 games

i hope joba is ok

Sounds like he is. He said it stiffened up on him, no real pain per se and the last pitch of the night was 96mph. Sounds like his deltoid and in that heat, a muscle spasm or even a muscle strain isnt uncommon. That being said, the yankees will treat that arm like some rare egg.

he reminded me of a roger clemens/ rodney dangerfield combo...

ohhh my arm....

good to see him gut it out

im sure i saw him giggling after the homerun young hit..

You have no idea of this until the MRI comes back, and you know it

Agree Jacko' date=' the Yankees need to be real careful. I heard Rasner is a possibility to replace him but Kennedy is in Triple A, put Rasner as the long man and call up Ian[/quote']

Oh boy..Ian Kennedy! Just who we need.

You are right. Just by going on his reaction and what he said and where he pointed. The good thing is, where he pointed didnt look like an insertion of a rotator cuff tendon. Then again, under the baggy uni, you really cannot know for sure. We'll see. MRI today.

Let me guess, hmm. What are we gonna see. I am guessing inflammation of the deltoid, no tears, rest recommended, etc.

rasner is out with a blood blister and the post reports they are bringing up kennedy or some other stud who theyve been saving for just this occasion..

""According to Girardi, Chamberlain will miss Saturday's start against the Angels in Anaheim, Calif. With Dan Giese replacing Darrell Rasner for Friday night's start and Rasner suffering from a blood blister on the right index finger, the Yankees will need to get creative to find Chamberlain's replacement. That could mean promoting Alfredo Aceves or Ian Kennedy from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.""

alfredo aceves or ian kennedy?

i thought they were working out victor zambrano and i hear that dave burba is interested in moving to the bronx

ARLINGTON, Texas - Joba Chamberlain assumes he will enter the Carl Pavano Memorial MRI tube today at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

all b.s. aside for a moment mussina has had a good year so far but i feel he's a time bomb or a pinata if you will, something thats ready to be beaten or explode.

petitte isnt the same, hes serviceable as is mussina

this has been nys problem over the last few years

they have nobody dominant like chamberlain had been and they get beat in october, sometimes in slugfests and sometimes in close games but they get beat cause they dont have a legit stopper.

wang?

come on

wangs another guy with good#S,real good #s during the season but he does a lot of tap dancing and as evidenced in october he is a man who can be had.

boston over the years had aces but they never really had anything to go along with the #1.

we never had much of a bullpen, clemens and hurst were a great 1*2 but raja didnt do so well in october, mike boddiker was like a mussina, couldnt break a pane of glass but put up solid #s thru the season only to get annilihated against the better teams in october.

the angels and sox are both favored to win the pennant now,the #s are changing daily but the beating the angels laid on the sox tells me that they are a more balanced team with a better bullpen and more ways to beat you, especially adding a texeira to their lineup

Heard on the way home in ESPN 1050 :

The MRI is out and the Yankees are not talking. Joba is scheduled to see Dr Andrews tomorrow,

That can't be good for the kid or the Yankees.

Bring back Igawa:thumbsup:

Looks like Dr Dunce's prediction of fatigue, rest, and relaxation was a bit too rosy. Who'da thunk it?

no evidence that I am wrong yet. /crossingfingers
Crossingfinger? This is Dr. Andrews. He reserves the operating room before he has the consult. You should be saying novenas.

Not necessarily true. There are a good amount of teams that send their prized pitchers to him for evals in the absence of MRI evidence. He has been doing this thing so long that his exam is more reliable than an equivocal MRI. As it is, the shoulder is one of the poorer imaged joints as one of its cogs to stability (the labrum) is poorly imaged in any way possible.

Regardless, I think the secrecy shows more than the fact that they are having Andrews examine him. It is safe to say they saw something. Rumors on other yankee boards is that the labrum and cuff are solid from what they saw. But did he hurt his bicep tendon when he fell, did he have a tear in his deltoid? Who knows, are those rumors wrong? We all have to wait.

Consider the source, Dr Knowlittle. People who, just like you yesterday, were confident it was just fatigue are now confident there's no structural damage. I agree lets wait, but lets drop the fabricated news and predictions too.

I know just as much as you ORS. Which is nothing. It is all hope in this case. But to continue to call me Dr. (insert insult here) is very low of you. I thought you were better than that.

I'm not trying to insult you as an MD, I'm sure you are very good at what you do. I am trying to draw attention to the fact that no matter how credible you may be on medical issues due to your training, that your every utterance about baseball injuries needs to be taken with a grain of salt and to examine the uniforms to see how honest it might be.

The New York Post expects Joba Chamberlain to be placed on the disabled list on Wednesday.

The Yankees have recalled pitcher Chris Britton from Triple-A, and since he was sent down less than ten days ago, the team has to be placing a pitcher on the disabled list. Chamberlain is the only Yankee pitcher who has reported an injury. Chamberlain is reportedly in Florida getting examined by Dr. James

Andrews on Wednesday.
