After a ton of speculation, he finally gets fired. It'll be interesting to see who comes in there next, especially since the corporate atmosphere in New York seems to be very anti-manager.

I think the bigger story is almost the way they fired him. They not only fire the guy as soon as they leave on a west coast road trip but they send out the press release at 3:15am eastern time. Talk about cowardly and classless

Yeah really. They should have never let him take the trip. And according to Jon Heyman, Omar assured Willie on the team bus after the game last night leaving Angels Stadium that he had nothing to worry about. I was in and out of sleep all night with ESPNEWS on the tv,and throughout the course of the night I remember hearing the breaking news, but when I woke up I completely forgot about it and dismissed it as a dream, but when I heard on SportsCenter this morning I was stunned that it was indeed true. Very classless maneuver by Omar and the Wilpons. And now Fred is trying to act as if he had nothing to do with it, claiming that it was "Omar's call." That's such ********. All of them are full of it.

I'm very interested to see how Minaya defends himself and the organization when he speaks to reporters at 5pm today

It's about time they finally did something. I don't agree with their decision, but Randolph didn't deserve to have to sit there and watch the blade swing over his head for weeks, even months! The Mets handled this horribly and I think it's definitely going to carry over into the team's performance over the remainder of the season.

Where was this after last September? Minaya is proving at every opportunity that he doesn't have what it takes to be a GM in New York. Who knows, maybe this works out, but it should have been done months ago.

So now Jerry Manuel is a self-proclaimed "gangster" who has said he would "get his blade out and cut" Jose Reyes if he does what he did the other night again.

 

Explaining what happened when Jose Reyes put up a fight when asked to leave Tuesday's game with a hamstring injury, manager Jerry Manuel joked: "I told him next time he does that I'm going to get my blade out and cut him. I'm a gangster. You go gangster on me, I'm going to have to get you. You do that again, I'm going to cut you right on the field."
