Just saw on rotoworld that Matt Morris, who grew up not far from where I'm from, was released by the Pirates. He's struggled and certainly hasn't been very good the past few years, but he has pitched in some big games throughout his career and I expect to see him catch on somewhere else. Whether or not he returns to the form he had during his best years in St. Louis, or at least close to it, could determine his future as a big league pitcher.

He is a shell of his formerly promising self. He was talking about retiring, I always liked Matt Morris, I wanted the Sox to take a gamble on him when he was a free agent. Glad they didn't.

Smart move by the Pirates. If someone picks him up they are off the hook for the money. It would be ideal for them if there was a big market team, one that throws money around like a sailor on shore leave, that was having a hard time getting innings from some unproven kids and might be interested in a vet with "big game experience". Jus' sayin'.

would the yankees be so s*** off stupid as to pic this guy up?

if his era is 9+ in the nl what does that translate to the al east...

of course if he could keep his era in the 7s it would be an improvement over their current 4-5 men

My local paper just reported today that in speaking to him, Matt Morris has informed them of his decision to retire.

Maybe he had some help along the way..

I believe he has somewhere in the neighborhood of 11 million ($$) reasons to sit at home and enjoy his family this year.
