When was the last time an NBA official called a travel? 1995?

Despite that, I can see calling a travel there. But to call a foul was atrociously bad.

The Celtics had 2 against them in game 6 I think. Both might have been against Cassell.

i can see why the writers would choose LA

but they don't realize the celtics are finally winning on the road

they don't realize we are the best team they've had to play yet

they don't realize that the lakers have yet to face a team with as many weapons as the celtics

they don't realize we f***ing slaughtered them twice this year, and they're minus bynum plus gasol at this point, so they're not too much better

-i'm calling garnett going bananas, odom is a goon, and that is a mismatch and a half and i'm looking for garnett to exploit it.

-bryant may not be at his best because of how tired he will be. between guarding pierce AND ray, he's going to have his hands full and won't be able to take a posession off

-gasol is not a hall of fame player, he's a very good player. the writers are all over his nuts right now.

-fisher and farmar can't really hold a flame to rondo right now, rondo is way too quick for both of them, so i'm looking for him to exploit that mismatch

-gasol is soft as hell and perk and KG are hard as f***, so i expect us to outrebound them as well

people love the lakers right now because of the kobe appeal. they're the sexy pick.

then again, so were the pistons.

i don't know how, but i hope the celtics get it done. regardless this is gonna be a hell of a series.

Just for the record, if Kobe leads them to victory here, the tally re: Jordan will be 6 to 1. This is the only Kobe team analogous to the Jordan Bulls. This is the first time he goes to the finals as the centerpiece of his team with a cast of decent supporting players that he has to carry. His other 3 championships featured him as option 1A to another top 20, probably top 10, all-time player. Maybe 6:1 is a bit harsh, but it certainly won't be 6:4.

Those two bulls teams that Jordan didn't play on because of his suspension were also among the elite teams in the League. We're not talking about teams that would've been in the lottery without Jordan. He won some rings with some damn good teams.

And those Lakers teams don't win without Kobe anyway.

The traveling non-calls usually come on the "two step" rule, if you pick up your pivot foot you'll normally get nailed for it.

They were a good team, but not elite. And the Shaq Lakers coasted to their 3 straight. The Kobe on those teams was not the same Kobe of today. He was just finding his game. Replace him with a serviceable 2/3 and they still win, IMO, with the only year in question being the 3rd year. I don't think the same replacement does it for the Jordan Bulls.

I'd say "very good"... one of the best in the League... and that was with BJ Armstrong playing the 2 guard. The point is no player is going to win without a good, good team. Shaq did it with D-Wade but that series would've been a Dallas runaway if not for the officials. And that team had some talent outside of those two.

This Lakers team is top heavy, but outside of that, there's not too many names youd expect to see on the team that just came out of the deepest conference ever.

I don't know... I'm judging on talent... Kobe's right there with Jordan. If he wins with this team he'd have demonstrated the type of killer instinct and, I guess, "intangibles" that made Jordan so great.

It's all opinion... there will never be a definitive answer to the question. But Kobe's in a league of his own right now and it's not out of the question that he adds a few more rings.

Anyone got tickets? I'm going to Game 6 if it happens. I certainly hope it gets that far...here's to hoping the Celts take the first two, then one in LA, then win it all in Game 6!

I understand the logistics of this series are an issue, but the 2-3-2 format is a joke. Why should the team with home court play less home games after 5 total games are played than the visitng team? If the Lakers win 1 in Boston they could close the series out at home. How does that make sense?

I thought the Celtics were done for when Pierce faked that injury.

Then he comes out, the place erupts, and he hits those two 3's?

Vince McMahon couldn't have scripted it better if it were a WWE title match.

It was pretty much incredible to see

i always hated the 2-3-2 format cause the lakers would always take 1 in the garden

if i recall when boston had home court and won the 1st game like in 85 they lost the series

when they lost the 1st game like in 84 they won the series

in 87 l.a had home court and smothered us the 1st 2 games but game 5 was the dagger when magic made that shot to win it and we needed the next 2 on the road

we werent playing the 04 yanks unfortunetly.

somethings missing

we need a fight, maybe a dirty play of some sort,an enemy to villify to get the men pumped

id like to see someone send gasol 4 rowes deep then have kobe charge the court and tangle with say ....glen davis

somethings missing

its hard hating something you know nothing about and that something i know nothing about is the 08 lakers and their strange roster

Flying out to the West Coast causes some issues.

I hope hope hope hope this is sarcasm.

As if you haven't heard it everywhere already. "Faked" is a harsh word but he clearly played it out to be a lot worse than it was. He showed no ill-effects from an injury that required him to be wheel chaired off of the court.

I believe Pierce didn't play it out at all. He definitely hurt his knee to some extent, so to say he faked is ridiculous. I think the training staff were the ones who made him get carried out and put in a wheel chair. After watching Pierce for the last 10 years, he plays with all sorts of bumps and bruises, so to say he was faking is ridiculous. Cautious is more like it.

Think about it logically... do you really think Pierce would knowingly hurt his team to come out of the game for a little more than 5 minutes, just to get a small gain on his own personal legacy? Absolutely not.

People from LA need to shut the f*** up and stop making up nonsense. They're just mad because he was torching them, then came back in, then s*** on their faces.

From Chris Sheridan, ESPN

After the game, Pierce was walking with a pronounced limp as he exited the postgame interview room and headed back to the locker room, but some 45 minutes later the injury was clearly bothering him more.

As he walked to his car, Pierce was still wearing his warm-ups. The snaps along the right side were hanging open, revealing a wrapping of several ace bandages from the bottom of his calf to the top of his thigh, an additional layer of white tape wrapped around the lower half of his hamstring, ending just above his knee.

Pierce's feet moved no more than 12 inches with each step, and as you watched him begin to navigate the four flights of stairs from the locker room level to the players' parking lot, you couldn't help but wonder exactly how much adrenalin had fueled his comeback. The knee injury could also keep him out of Game 2 or, at the very least, reduce his effectiveness.

YH, I had the same take on it. The being carried and carted off was more about precaution than playing up the injury. If you hurt your knee and are unsure of the extent of the damage while the pain is still present, the best thing to do is not use it until a professional can evaluate it. I think this is what they did.

Maybe we can give LeBron's mom some courtside seats then tell her Kobe was talking all sorts of s*** about her son?
