tobacco kills everyone my friends

No doubt. I've seen it up close and personal and it killed me to watch it.

My Mom's side of the family all smoked...Her Dad died at 62. Her uncle was 58. My Mom was 62. Her brother was 48.

My Mom's mom never smoked...she lived to about 85.

My Dad and his brother smoked...both died in their early 70's.

My Dad's parents never smoked...they both lived till their mid 80's.

All of these people woulda lived a good 10-15 years more without smoking. Think of how many more Manhattan's, wine and beer they could have enjoyed in those extra years!

my 3 granparents who smoked died before 65

1 that didnt died of cancer at 77

her sister who smoked died at 66,her husband who smoked for 40 years died at 62

the oldest brother, who marched with patton from algiers to berlin just died in may at age 96....

cigarettes kill

and they destroy your quality of life before you die

this isnt questionable or up for debate

just ask any of us who have seen family members rot into a toothpick as they scream while pissing and beg you to put them out of their misery

Sean you've obviously witnessed this too as you are dead on.

My Dad was a guy who never called in sick to work, balls to the walls 24/7...

never admitted to having even a cold...

never complained while going through chemo/radiation for Hodgkins disease at 46...

When he was diagnosed at 72 with lung cancer which had spread to the brain, abdomen, neck, chest and some bone he looked at me and said "72...not bad" then said to call the lawyer, let's make sure everything is in place...but still no complaint.

2 months later, its Thanksgiving Day and I'm in his hospital room and he looks at me and says "I don't know if I can take it." I knew then how painful that fkn disease must be to have enticed those words from that man's lips.

2 weeks later he was gone.

May God strike me dead on the spot if I ever put a cigarettte to my lips, and if my kids ever do it I'll drag their asses right down to Hospice and show them their potential fate (not that everyone in hospice is a smoker, but you get my drift.)

both my parents smoke still and theyre both 65.

my dads circulation is cooked,he has an aneurism in his head thats ready to burst,so big he was told 13 years ago not to make plans for new years eve,hes still living each day like captain morgan taking spanish town....every time the phone rings at odd hours i expect a hearse to be in my driveway...

my mother was Pyne Flowers bride of the year in 1964 and a former miss worcester county 1962...

she looks like shes 80 because of the damage tobacco has done to her skin and the combo of raising us while working the 11-7 shift in ER for the past 42 years...

plus she is a creature of the sun

she gets out of work in the summer at 7,gets a jug of wine, the lawn chair and the dogs and sits outside watching the world go by for 12 hours a day.

smoking kills

the sun also kills

6 uncles all have melanoma,my dad has melanoma,my mom is in the process of being treated for its symptoms.

we have the education now that they didnt have back then

there is no excuse for anyone who is a smoker and again,be very careful playing in the sun as well.if you've seen the damage they can do 1st hand its an education that you willl forever be able to pass on...

respect the sun and dont smoke

you'll live a better,longer life

hey seano!

sorry to hear about your dad. he's a great guy and I really enjoyed meeting him. one of these days we gotta have a couple of brews man. I know your game. you told me that.

As you remember I saw first hand what the fkn butts do to you. if my sis had quit when I did back in 86 she would probably still be here today. you and I have a mutual friend out there that I'm sure is still puffing away, but like she told me once, she wasn't a heavy smoker.

say hello to everyone down at the vets for me bud.

I see it all the time. I havent really seen it in my family, though. My grandparents gave it up when my dad was born, and they havent suffered any ill effects that I can tell. The other side never smoked and they are alive and well into their 80s.

But in my line of work, I see it all the damn time. I had a patient who was 39 and had a tracheostomy because his larynx was removed after having laryngeal CA. But lo and behold he comes in every week or so with his trach plugged. Why is that? Because he smoked through the hold in his neck. Addictive as anything. Right now I'm in an ICU and the patients under 60 in that unit have one thing in common, they all were big time smokers. The people that made it to their 80s in that unit all did not smoke. And to be honest with you, the frail old ladies who never smoked are faring better this month than the burly 50 something yr old smokers. Hell, I pronounced one 2 days ago and another rolled in today that was ready to die. Do yourself a favor. Never f***ing smoke. Cancer pain is unbearable, but it isnt just the cancer. Emphysema is damn near inevitable if you smoke for a long period of time as well as increased risk of heart disease, stroke, peripheral vascular disease, hell, impotence as well. Nothing like wheeling around an oxygen tank in your 40s and going to the hospital once a month because you cannot breathe.
