Rangers aquire Hamilton from Reds

He had a good season even tho it was slowed by injuries. If he stays healthy he could really blossom in Texas.

 

Also, the Reds got a pretty decent pitcher back from looking at his stats last season. 2 players for a guy taken in the rule 5 draft last season isn't to bad of an investment.

 

 

I know Cincy redid there coaching staff, is the guy that helped Hamilton back to the Majors still apart of that staff? Or is he somewhere else now?

Is the Ranger's FO just plain retarded? They have a good offense, they desperately need pitching... so they trade away pitching. Do they want to lose?

I wouldn't call the Rangers retarded. How sure of a thing is Volquez? Is his potential as a number two or three starter worth more than Hamilton's potential a .300/.400/.500/.900 play in CF?

 

Hamilton hit 19 homeruns in his first 300 AB's in the major leagues. He's an awfully good talent, and I wouldn't be surprised if he hits 30 HR's, if he gets to play everyday.

 

Take into account that the Rangers were going to go with Marlon Byrd in CF, and David Murphy in RF. I think it's safe to say that Hamilton is, at least, a small upgrade over those two

If Hamilton fails, is Murph next in line to get the starting job? I think that kid has some good potential. His speed is great and if he could hit a little better then he'd be close to as good as Jacoby.

 

Also the Rangers should look at the market and consider some of these high reward pitchers like Colon and Jennings and try to sign them cheap.

If Hamilton stays healthy and clean he could be a nice player to build around. Playing in Texas he could be a 30HR guy easy.
