Guardians reliever Juan Lara remains hospitalized in stable but critical condition after suffering a fractured spine, severe brain trauma, two broken ribs and a punctured lung in an automobile crash Saturday in the Dominican Republic.

A blood clot in his head is what doctors are focusing on right now. It's currently too risky to transport him to the U.S. for surgery, though that could happen at some point. Doctors are optimistic that he'll survive, and there's been no sign of paralysis so far, though Lara has been kept heavily sedated in order to prevent him from moving.

How awful, but great to hear that the doctors are optimistic he'll survive
