Peyton Manning - Greatest QB ever?

Recommended Posts

Posted
Did you ever see Roger play? He was the one QB that I absolutely hated to see my team play against. There have been very few of those QB's over the years. Picking out the greatest ever is not something that will ever be done. The game changes from generation to generation. You have great QB's that in their time only threw 20 - 30 times a game, if that.

I have always been a fan of having a great running team. Very few teams take that approach any more. When I was growing up. You ran the ball till the Defense was tired and then opened up the passing game. Now it's all about the pass.

I have seen him play, though perhaps not the games he's known for or moments anyway, but I may be a tad biased since I saw Elway's greatest and latest years. Elway also has the impressive placing on the all-time passing TD list, total offense list, and the NFL record 40 comeback wins. And though his CMP% is a little lower than Staubach's, he did have some horrid early seasons that lowered it, as he did have some 60+ % seasons.

All I am saying is that I would rather have Brady on my team, I think he is calmer under pressure and not much rattles him. By the way See Red how do you think a team that was 5-11 the previous year and started 0-2 went on to win a superbowl. If Brady had not come on to the field, the Pats would have probably won only five games that season. Thats the fact that people overlook, the Patriots were not by any means a quality team when Brady took over. They had Bledsoe who was an alright quarterback, but when Brady was inserted into the offense I think his presence and deminor helped give everyone on the team confidence. You can't teach that, you either have that quality or you don't. Let's be realistic Peyton Manning's playoff stats are not that good if you take out 2 monstrous games I believe in 04. He had something like 10 TD's and 0 picks in those two games, other than that he was mediocre at best through out his playoff career. He played especially poor in two of his four playoff games last season.

If you take out the 8 touchdowns and 0 picks, he is left with 10 Td's and 15 picks, not that great. You can't blame that on the bad defense either. Now compare these stats to Tom Brady's:

It's not even close, Brady is a far supeior playoff performer, which is what I want my quarterback to be. I am not even going to bring up W/L totals because I know we are talking about pure stats here.

Brady has thrown interceptions the last two seasons with the game on the line.

Could Brady's perception of being "clutch" just be because he won at the right time? What happens if Manning wins another Super Bowl? Is he compared to Elway then instead of a choker? What if Brady never leads another Pats team to the SB? Can I call him a choker?

tom brady's stats in the 2001 playoffs sucks.. 60 for 97 572 yards 1TD 1INT , your full of s*** if you say its because of tom brady that they won that year. their defense held the opposing team to 13,17,17 points and not to mention 2 huge field gold by vinaterri

2003 playoffs... much better than 2001 but not exceptional

2004 playoffs... he was great in that year cant argue that

2005 playoffs.. he was good but lost to denver

2006 playoffs .. he sucked

so overall 2001 and 2006 he really sucked... 2003 and 2005 he was good and 2004 he was great . i'd give him credit for 2 SB at the most, not 3

So you think the Pats would have won the superbowl in 01 with Bledsoe as quarterback? You are full of s*** my friend. Brady had two good games out of three in the 2006 playoffs, with one so-so game, to say he sucked last post season is a really, really dumb comment.

actually yeah , it wouldn't have been hard to throw for more than 1 TD pass and 572 yards in 3 games

The drive against Indy was almost an impossible situation. I believe there was like 50 seconds left and no timeouts, not to mention the best option Brady had to throw to was Ben Watson. Let's also no forget that if Reche Caldwell had not dropped a wide open TD, the Patriots would have won the game, and we would be talking about the 4 time superbowl champion Patriots. The only really bad end of game descion Brady made was the pick in the endzone against Denver, but I believe that was in the third quarter so that really wasn't the end of the game.

I am not saying Manning is a choker, I am saying if you are looking at pure stats Brady is a better post season performer than Manning at this point in there respective careers period.

I guess I meant one really good game with one decent game. Brady actually played well against the Colts in the AFC champ. game, if you take out his desperation pick he actually had a very above average game.

Your comment about the saying the Patriots would have won the superbowl that year with out Brady was moronic. It means you knew nothing about the Pats that season. The team was 5-13 in their last 18 games and suddenly they would have just turned it around and gone 14-3 with a superbowl with Bledsoe at the helm.

Well, Bledsoe did kinda sorta win the AFC Championship game, so to call him a moron for thinking he coulda won the SB with the defensive performance the Pats put forth isn't that far fetched.

i get amused when canadiens discuss football

its nearly as amusing as when they discuss national pride.

walk down memory lane with a guy who saw the pats play in harvard stadium for a moment

im a season ticket holder walking out of the old stadium the week after 9-11-01

very emotional day with andruzzi's brothers and with machine guns everywhere.

my dad is limping along with me,there was 6 minutes left, the 0-1 pats were down 10-3 against the lowly jets and we and 20,000 other people knew WE FUKIN KNEW that bledsoe couldnt get it done so we leave the building as we had so many times before as losers with no hope

0-2 against the bengals and the jets and it looked like a bad year brewin

bledsoe ends up nearly bleeding out on the sidelines but before the game ended the fans had a shot of victory when brady got a couple of 1st downs and they tried the hail mary...

they failed but a star was born

the next week we got to indianappolis as 10 pt underdogs against all world peyton manning

the pats beat the f***ing s*** out of them, him and their entire team.

bryan cox decapitated pathon and the season restarted that very moment

bledsoe??

stop it,just stop it now.

he came in against pitt and threw a td pass then went back to the bench where he belonged

last year i feel the front office beat us

reche caldwell dropped 2 balls that my 4 year old neice catches that couldve been tds

any of which ends indies season

caldwell dropped the ball, the pats were sucking wind and the game was over.

to put last years loss on brady is beyond f***ing stupid

in fact i think we should have a seperate column for canadien posters so we americans dont have to stagger thru the nonsense and the pure ******** that is falling from santas village

But the fact remains that if Caldwell didn't drop the tochdown pass the Patriots win the game. I would say 1 time out of every 100 a QB would lead his team to a touch down with 45 seconds left and 0 timeouts startig from about the 20 yard line.
