Yes I watched each of his starts. I never said he wasn't good enought, I said his stuff was great and def MLB worthy. He could start next season no doubt, I'm saying he is the Franchise's biggest pitching prospect( Probably ML #1 pitching prospect) and the front office is going to baby him a little. Especially since he had a tired shoulder. He went to the bp for a few weeks and still had a tired shoulder. His arm is not ready for a full major league season yet. This is the only reason I don't see him in the SR next season out of camp. He needs another season atleast to build hi stamina. I rather have him for the long haul then get a Mark Prior on our hands.

Hes only what 23? Let him build more arm this season, and have a more polished stronger arm Buccholz for 09.

If this kid spends any more time in the minors, K'ing 9-11 guys per/9, I might punch myself in the head. Did Cole Hamels need to spend more time in the minors? How about Felix Hernandez? The Sox pitching staff--if they don't resign Schilling--will be weak next year if Buchholz isn't in the back end of the rotation.

They weren't worried about a tired arm. They were planning on shutting him down and able to diagnose a tired arm. Buchholz said he was fine and was a little peeved (in that "I want my shot" sort of way) that he isn't on the playoff roster. It is nowhere NEAR a Papelbon situation.

If you're going to send him to the minors why not just put him on the shelf, and not pitch him at all? Why have him throw a .90 WHIP against AAA hitters and wear out his arm? It's the bigs or bust and my guess is that the Sox had to use TONS of restraint to not use him at the end of the season this year. This is the year they baby him. Next year he gets a pitch count and innings limit on the MLB team, and the year after that he can go to town (in a controlled way, of course).

I agree, he should be pitching in Fenway next year. They can build him up and monitor his work there. Who says he can't skip a few starts if necessary along the way to keep him under some predetermined inning cap? And if the Sox make the WS and he isn't hurt, they better put him on the roster and let Gagme start his negotiations for '08 a week early.

Put it this way example, I won't be complaining if he is in the rotation:D

I just won't be shocked if they sign someone( no clue who) to be in the SR.

it is all about building up arm strength. This season, Buch threw nearly 150 innings. This means he is about ready for 180 which would get him through a full MLB season.

Francisco Cordeo will sign with a team thats in need of a closer. Im thinking if not resigning with Milwaukee, he'll be an Atlanta Brave come opening day

And zack as I said before, Eric Hinkse will be a free agent this offseason. The best in house candidate to take over his role would be newly acquired Chris Carter. Or if the Sox want to go the veteran route, why not take a shot at Sean Casey?

I think Sean Casey would be a great idea if he'd be willing to play part time. I actually think that Youkilis should play a little less. He seems to get worn down because he feels like he has to play every game like its the seventh game of the World Series.

I think he maybe more productive if someone like Casey played ohhh 1/3 of the time.

Chris Carter from what I've read is awful defensively and Casey is pretty good.

Mark Prior was completely abused throwing 130 plus pitches many which when he was clearly tired. I think that Clay could throw 200 innings next year, without it being a big deal. His innings will probably be limited by a few things. Shutting him down if there is any sign of trouble, putting him on a pitch count (probably won't throw more than 100 pitches, and lets face it, he's probably going to run through some rough patches here and there, rookie pitchers usually do.

I'm all for signing a veteran starter to take the pressure of both Clay and Lester, but I think that you have to have Clay making 30+ starts next year by hook or by crook.
